I was intrigued to learn of the available Chemist position at Applied Materials. I have done my Master of Science in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), a premier public institution in India. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry (expected February 2021). I have five years of working experience on various research problems to handle different microscopic techniques and fabrication techniques. Owing to my exposure in the field of research at IIT Bombay, I have developed my skills to understand the fundamental behaviour of materials. And with this, I am confident that my skills and qualification makes me a potential candidate to apply for this position.

In my current role as a doctoral researcher, I had the unique opportunity to work primarily on designing new materials and exploring them for energy storage applications. These projects have offered me the opportunity to drastically expand my knowledge about material synthesis, the characterization techniques in state-of-the-art imaging, and spectroscopy methods to understand the crystal structure and function of materials. I have hands-on experience in operating Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD), Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Scanning/Transmission Electron Microscope (STEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), X-ray Photo Electron Spectroscopy (XPS), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), and UV-Vis Spectroscopy. Besides, I also have a sound understanding of Raman Spectroscopy and Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS).
During my doctoral research at the Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics (CEN) in IIT Bombay, I have developed a clear understanding of nanofabrication for low dimensional materials. Here, I have gained expertise in Electron Beam Lithography (EBL), Sputter deposition, Thermal evaporation, Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Plasma Asher, Optical Microscope, Ellipsometer, Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS), PPMS-VSM (magnetic measurement), Room/Low temperature electrical characterization. I have fundamentally investigated how an intercalated 1D CoO2 nanotube can drastically change the ampacity by simply changing the intercalate. As part of my nanofabrication training, I have worked primarily in clean room and I believe this makes me suitable for this position. The interdisciplinary nature of my doctoral work has offered me the opportunity to work in close collaboration with other research scholars, thus helping me hone my interpersonal skills and the ability to present complex scientific information. In addition, I have primarily worked on electrochemical energy storage that can potentially address the energy crisis of the modern world. My research work offered me to understand how defects/vacancies and strain in crystal lattices can synergistically impact the electrocatalysis process.
I am a committed individual and am eagerly looking to join a goal-oriented team. I feel that Applied Materials offers me an environment where I can deliver and add to the organization’s value, given my skill set.
