Wishing of the day !!
I’m writing to express my interest in the posted internship offer.I am currently working as an M.Tech Research Scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Ropar in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. Dr. Shweta Jain, Professor atIIT Ropar, permitted me to do a Master’s Thesis research project in Fairness in RecommenderSystems. Undergoing enormous sessions with my advisor has groomed me to implement federatedrecommender systems from scratch. I have undergone a detailed literature review concerning fed-erated systems & collaborative recommender systems. It has helped develop a pragmatic approachand steered me in generating interest in research as a career. I can embark on any initiative; thisis reflected from work during my master’s here at IIT Ropar. Along with working on fairness in recommender systems, I have recently submitted a research paper related to tackling popularity bias in recommender systems. The paper is under review in the CORE A* conference, InternationalJoint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI-22).Recommender systems” in A* core conference“International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, IJCAI 2022”. The work was done in collaboration with other lab members and it mainly aimed at developing a new in-processing algorithm to reduce the difference of losses among popular and non-popular items through regularization. I have also volunteered for the international workshop on dominations in graphs under my supervisor’s presence and attended various research talks. It in all has led me to develop both team spirit and leadership qualities. Apart from the above, I am also currently mentoring an intern working on gender bias issues in the recommender system under the guidance of Dr. Shweta Jain. As far as my other achievements are concerned, I recently got selected for a research hackathon (DataStudy Group ) conducted collaboratively by Alan Turing Institute and University of Birmingham,UK. I am keen to join the program that your esteemed institute has presented. I am enthusiastic about learning new things and always keen to understand topics in-depth without leaving any unturned concepts. I will be highly obliged if you consider my application for the same.
