About this Job:
The Nielsen Client Portal team resides within the Enterprise IT Applications group. The Nielsen Answers Portal and Nielsen Client Portals are critical platforms for our Nielsen IQ clients with 98% of all NielsenIQ clients utilizing these Portals to access their products and deliveries. The Client Portals are a key delivery mechanism for NielsenIQ with over a 100 NielsenIQ products currently integrated. This area of Enterprise Architecture is experiencing rapid growth with many new products, partnerships and adoption driving the need to expand our global footprint, improve our platform’s capabilities and grow our team!
Rationale:
We are looking for a results-driven team leader to be responsible for monitoring and supervising a team of off-shore consultants to achieve the organization’s objectives and provide on-time, quality deliverables and ensure system reliability. This role is responsible for providing guidance, instruction, training, and project leadership to inspire the team to perform at their optimum and create a cohesive team that works efficiently together to maximize our team’s delivery potential.
Responsibilities:
Ï Act as the off-shore team’s Platform team lead to ensure quality and on-time delivery
Ï Partnering with the Tech Lead and on-shore Dev Lead to arrive at sound, best practice approaches.
Ï Act as Platform lead representative when discussing technical design and solutions with stakeholders
Ï Participating in detailed requirements, design, and documentation and integration efforts for our on-prem servers and architecture with the ability to reliably estimate work efforts and schedules.
Ï Conducting regular work reviews to ensure that deliverables are error free and efficient
Ï Participating in stand up and other agile ceremony calls with your assigned scrum team
Ï Working with Scrum Master to ensure deliveries of sprints/stories are on schedule and properly documented
Ï Working with the Tech Lead and Release Manager to ensure test results are documented and changes are clearly communicated
Ï Partnering with QA resources on the team to deliver high quality deployments through the use of automated testing tools and well-defined test scripts.
Ï Producing architecture documentation, specifications, POCs where appropriate
Ï Interface with external vendors and third-party tools suppliers on technical issues and track to resolution.
Ï Managing the day-to-day activities of the team.
Ï Ensuring deployment and rollback instructions are clearly defined and executed.
Ï General task delegation to team members.
Ï Assist with talent search and conducting training of team members to maximize their potential.
Ï Empowering team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills.
Ï Assisting with quarterly performance reviews.
Ï Creating a pleasant working environment that inspires the team to achieve organizational goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
8+ years of IT industry Experience in Unix administration, release management, and DevOps experience.
Previous experience working in Agile/Scrum environment
Experience CI/CD and DevOps principles and processes
Expert level working knowledge of client-side and server-side scripting languages
Performance tuning and testing best practice knowledge/experience
Strong working knowledge on Fail-over and load balancing concepts
A demonstrated commitment to standards and best practices
Technical aptitude and demonstrated professional ability in devops, infrastructure, database design and administration, quality assurance testing, system reliability engineering, automation, performance testing and optimization.
Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work with team members and stakeholders across various business units, functions and geographies.
Business and technology acumen, including a demonstrated understanding of general IT policies, services, security, processes, structure, roles & responsibilities.
Ability to function effectively under pressure in an environment of rapid change and complex requirements.
Must be organized, self-motivated and goal oriented with a demonstrated record of initiative, adaptability and decisiveness.
Strong organizational skills to give the team direction.
Analytical problem solver with good communication (oral and written)
Performs with a strong sense of professionalism and tact. Must be able to communicate effectively to IT and Business
Proven ability to seek out and solve problems; go beyond the obvious to gain insight into areas which have broader impact or dependency on the Client Portal systems and services.
Experience with Infrastructure setup (cloud configuration, load balance points, firewall rules, SSL certificates, security configuration, etc.)
Platform support – Monitor and support production infrastructure, help debug issues in all environments.
Support engineers with their requests for software tools
Create and manage multiple projects related to the Platform team efforts (agile and waterfall)
Ability to work flexible hours and be available for weekend and evening work when applicable due to project deadlines or when business critical production issues require immediate support.
Technical Skills:
Experience with these on-prem technical skills (highly desired):
o CentOS, Apache, Tomcat/JBOSS
o Ping Identity, LDAP, CA SiteMinder, CA IDM, CA API Gateway,
o Oracle Weblogic Administration (Optional)
o OpenText Configuration, Upgrade and Administration (Optional)
Optional – Atlassian Tools: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket/GIT
DevOps Tools: Artifactory Repository, SonarQube, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, GIT.
Internet: HTML, XML, DHTML, IIS, JavaScript
Operating Systems: UNIX, Linux, Windows, CentOS.
Databases: Oracle, SQL, PaaS SQL
Cloud-native systems and services (Azure strongly preferred; other cloud platforms considered)
Strong unit, functional, integration and end-to-end testing best practice experience
Familiar with Containerization principles and use
