The concept of remanufacturing requires significantly lower consumption of natural resources, energy and contributes with less CO2 emissions. For these reasons the remanufactured components are an increasingly important part of the group’s spare part business, targeting second and third life of the products .

Volvo Group Circular Operations & Solutions is a part of Powertrain Production within GTO. We are a global function historically responsible for Remanufacturing, Core Management and Exchange Business Development within the Volvo Group. We are now expanding our ambitions to also support the group’s transformation to a circular business model. At present we have six production facilities in Europe and North/South America and Asia and we are headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The product portfolio contains a wide range of products such as: engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps carriers and injection pumps. The overall objective for Remanufacturing is to strengthen the aftermarket business, a soft offer portfolio covering the needs and expectations of our customers; all in a sustainable way.

What challenge do we offer?

The Circular Operations Leader will lead all Operations (Production, Engineering, Quality and Environment) within the Remanufacturing site at Hosakote- Bangalore, to secure the overall performance, quality, and lead times.

Reporting To: Director- ME, Maintenance and Remanufacturing ; GTO- International Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

Production workflow control & resources allocation based on the build plan.

Collaborate with internal suppliers (Reman logistics) or service providers (Machining / Maintenance) to achieve smooth workflow.

Meet targets for the product quality, material salvage, and customer lead time.

Building trust through engagement with operations team and actively participate in the development of people.

Responsible for engineering support to the process areas in the operations. Standardize operations process and instructions.

Maintain Bill of Materials (BoM) for all remanufactured products, to include all product updates and Design Change Notes to support the remanufacturing process.

The role is the technical bridge between the Site and the Global Center of Excellences. Participate in the Global Network Meetings representing the site.

Be a VPS Champion within Remanufacturing Team driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Lead, guide and support the production in quality issues to meet production and customers quality requirements.

Manage site operations related environmental requirements e.g., emissions to air and water, generation of waste, handling of chemicals emissions control, regulatory compliance with operating permit requirements and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor degree in Automobile/ Mechanical / Production Engineering from a reputed university.

Work experience of 8 years with Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in engine assembly or repair in Off-road /On-road segment either in manufacturing or aftermarket.

Should have a lead a team of industrial workers or field service technicians.

Problem Solving skills and knowledge on the tools.

Knowledge of Industry 4.0 tools like Additive Manufacturing will be an added advantage.

Proficient in Office 365 tools and having a flair for digitalization

Language proficiency in English (Written & verbal) is must, speaking proficiency of Kannada will be advantageous.
