Punahou School is actively recruiting a Medical Administrative Assistant to join the Health Center team. The Punahou School Health Center aims to improve each student’s physical and psychological health, to prevent disease or to control its spread, to maintain satisfactory community hygiene and safety, and to administer first aid for injuries that may occur during the school day. Under minimal supervision, the Medical Administrative Assistant provides clinical and administrative support with day-to-day operations in the Health Center. They will help to play a key support role with furthering the health and safety initiatives campus wide. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Performs duties that ensure that the Health Center is functioning effectively, opening up the Health Center in preparation for each day and/or closing the Health Center at the end of the day.
Ensures that equipment and supplies, beds and linen are properly sanitized.
May perform specific clinical duties with oversight and direction by the RN staff and/or Director.
Transports students to and from the Health Center via a campus vehicle (i.e. golf cart)
Retrieves, reviews, responds, Absence reporting App Check-In App submissions.
Assists with coordination and preparation for school field trips/events.
Participates in developing and updating health center procedures and practices that are in alignment with school policies.
Performs inventory of Inventories, supplies and equipment. Orders supplies and equipment as directed.
Performs other administrative support duties for the department (e.g., mail distribution, answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, tracking expenditures)
Assists with the coordination, set-up, breakdown, and staffing of health and safety training, school sponsored clinics and other events.
Scheduling Details:
Work Year: 12 Months
School Year: 2022-2023
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, certification, experience and training.
Current CPR/First Aide/AED Certification.
Two (2) years of administrative experience.
Recent experience as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse’s Aide preferred.
Experience working in a school environment preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience working in a healthcare/clinical setting.
Must have basic project management skills
Ability to articulate technology needs.
Prior experience with taking, and recording vital signs and symptoms preferred.
Familiarity with policies and practices based on state and other regulatory agencies preferred.
Must have cross-cultural and social-emotional skills
