You will help deliver the best-in-class booking experiences for our travelers by applying the latest standards and technology solutions in one of the best travel technology organizations in the world. As a member of this team, you will develop distributed systems that scale up to high number of transactions by driving the innovation and scale of the customer experience platform for Expedia Cruises. You will empower our travelers to search, shop, and book their cruise vacations by utilizing evolving supply and booking platforms on the cloud. Our team is looking for strong engineer who can navigate distributed systems, resolve exciting problems, and jump into new projects. Your work will touch systems at scale that reach people all around the world, while having a major impact on our business by helping travelers find relevant cruises. What you will do:

• Develop scalable, highly available, and reliable systems with high throughput in the thousands of requests per second with low latency.
• Collaborate with business and tech partners across functions to come up with technology solutions to business problems.
• Lead and participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, functional and technical design/architecture, development, testing, release, and support.
• Resolve complex problems by utilizing the right development methodologies, producing scalable, flexible, efficient,and maintainable solutions using appropriate technologies.
• Maintain, monitor, and improve our solutions and systems with a focus on service excellence; apply industry standards and new technologies to improve productivity, quality, and system performance.
• Seek to innovate, move quickly into exciting new technology opportunities.
• Produce documentation & status updates to keep partners & team members abreast of solutions, and proposed architecture.
• Communicate complex technical solutions to a variety of stakeholders.
• Own the continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) while utilizing Agile methodologies.
• Actively participate in group technology reviews to critique work of self and others
• Mentor junior engineers and advocate for quality coding, design, and optimal processes.

Who you are:

• 2+ Relevant software development experience preferably in the e-commerce/travel domain.
• A self-starter who is consistently looking to innovate and find ways to enhance our Traveller’s experience, with the ability to own solutions end to end.
• Strong technical proficiency, capable of problem-solving and applying critical thinking.
• A deep understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures.
• Prior experience working with distributed systems, architectural patterns, and scalable production quality systems
• Strong Experience in Object-oriented programming languages such as Java
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Spring Boot, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of various software development technologies and frameworks such as JavaScript, JSON, XML, Spring Boot
• General understanding of databases, SQL, No SQL.
• Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas.
• Bias for action, data-driven decisions, collaboration, and “test and learn” practices.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
