Opportunity :
Lead Database Administrator has the ability to manage database systems hosted in on-premises data centers and also cloud database systems. Perform database administration, maintenance, configuration, backup/restore and troubleshooting of relational and NoSQL databases. The candidate will generate and execute database migration scripts, install the application, and provide technical support daily. This position is in Bangalore, India.

Participate in the design, implementation, installation, and maintenance of databases.

Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.

Collaborate with engineering teams to design and build new database systems, to support application enhancements and promote database changes right from development database to Production databases.

Provide technical guidance and support to internal or external customers on database design and troubleshooting.

Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation and be available to perform periodic after-hours support.

Applies automation first approach for tedious manual & repeated tasks.

What it takes:
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education in a related discipline

10+ years of experience working with database servers and application servers.

Expertise in managing SQL Server / Oracle and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.

Experience handling big databases having data volumes in Terabytes’, petabytes size.

Experience managing 20+ database servers simultaneously.

Experience working with IBM DB2 database administration will be preferred.

Good experience in managing Cloud databases on Azure / AWS.

Expertise in writing database administration related SQL queries.

Good at database monitoring and providing operational support.

Knowledge on scripting – power shell or shell

Experience with database installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

Experience with application server installation, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work activities.

Critical thinking and problem analysis skills

Demonstrated capabilities to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience handling problems independently and reporting issues to management.

Experience working with global teams and familiar with change management process.

Experience in Disaster Recovery, High Availability, Replication, Backups, Scalability and Reliability strategies for database systems hosted on on-premises or on AWS / Azure Cloud.

Apply patching and upgrade databases as per requirements.

Follow existing database runbooks, create, and maintain new runbooks for new and improved processes

Ability to work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious.
