The Role Responsibilities
Job Role
This role is integral to drive the Reputational and Sustainability Risk agenda and embed the Reputational and Sustainability Risk framework within key business processes and across markets.
The AVP, Reputational and Sustainability Risk, ERM will
In accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management framework, embed the policy framework of Reputational and Sustainability risk in fulfilling the requirements of second line oversight and challenge to key stakeholders across the Group.
Drives management of the Group’s reputation through robust implementation of effective Reputational and Sustainability risk management and perform second line of defence oversight for reputational, and greenwashing risk.
Support review of Sustainable and Transition Finance as a second line of defence.
Support consultation, documentation, and impact assessment of areas of regulations relating to Reputational and Sustainability risks.
Support second line review of business activities in voluntary carbon markets.
Support the ongoing attestation to regulatory authorities to confirm compliance to relevant regulations.
Collaborating with Enterprise Risk Management and Businesses to ensure Risk Appetite, Corporate Plan, risk identification and other key risk management activities are well integrated with business strategy and aligned with evolving Sustainability and ESG risk management principles and regulations.
Provide inputs to Reputational and Sustainability Risk Framework Owner in the review of control environment for weaknesses.
Strategy
Drive the integration of the Sustainability Risk management across Clients, Third Parties and Operations, in alignment with our Bold Stands and Chapter 3 ambitions.
Support the delivery of a strategic approach for Sustainability risk management such as
Alignment of our portfolio to various external commitments such as Net Zero
Active management and oversight of risks through alignment of risk frameworks and policies to our Sustainability risk agenda.
Assurance on the implementation of the Reputational and Sustainability Risk Framework, policy, and associated processes.
Business
Drives efforts with Businesses, Supply Chain Management, and various Functions to embed Sustainability Risk considerations into first-line processes.
Embed enhanced due diligence criteria across various ESG and Sustainability Risk criteria into first-line processes and ensure first-line are kept up-to-date with evolving risk and regulatory landscape.
Where required, contribute to enhanced training and guidance materials for the frontline and Second-line risk owners, to drive consistent Reputational and Sustainability risk assessment and reporting across the Group and enhanced consistency in risk identification and assessment.
Processes
Identify new areas of risk to be integrated in the of the process universe for Reputational and Sustainability Risk.
Provide inputs to ensure maintenance of formalised procedures and DOIs for all Reputational and Sustainability Risk processes and reporting.
Where required, support the operational risk requirements of risk areas aligned with Reputational and Sustainability Risk.
People and Talent
Help to build the appropriate culture and values.
Work collaboratively with all relevant partners.
Risk Management
Uphold the integrity of risk / return decisions, by challenging business to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with the reputational and sustainability risk strategy and risk appetite.
Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
Where required, act as the second-line for risk areas aligned to the Reputational and Sustainability Risk RTF and Policy. Review and challenge Standard generation and updates and review control environment for weakness.
Governance
Provide support across Reputational and Sustainability Risk, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in Reputational and Sustainability Risk.
Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the responsible risk governance committees.
Regulatory and Business Conduct

Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Exercise authorities delegated by the Board of Directors and act in accordance with Articles of Association.

Our Ideal Candidate
Good knowledge of reputational risk management, or other risk-type management for financial services
Experience in a discipline relating to Environmental, Social or Governance risk
Good knowledge of Sustainable Finance and Transition Finance
Over 10 years of experience working in a major international banking organisation.
Knowledge of financial and non-financial risks and trends.
Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent inter-personal skills; comfortable in building relationships at senior levels and across teams, with outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Confident self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
