Dear Hiring Manager,
I’m writing to apply for the position of ‘Research and Development ML Intern’ at IISc Bangalore that was listed on the institute career website. Please accept this letter and the attached curriculum vitae as an indication of my genuine interest in this position.
I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad. I have a strong understanding of Deep Learning Alogrithms, LLMs, Fine Tuning and frameworks such as Tensorflow, keras and PyTorch. In addition, I’m well equipped with data structures and algorithms, and software engineering. I have worked on several projects in web development and machine learning such as a NLP based rating system, a product pooling application using OCR, night vision camera and the maze-solver bot. I’m really interested in the cloud hosting of ML models, which involves the integration of machine learning and backend frameworks in web applications.
As a member in 3 technical clubs in my college (Epoch, Tinkerers Lab, Robotix), I get to spend my time researching and working on projects regarding programming, machine learning and robotics. Moreover, a major part of my work involves interacting with my fellow club members and colleagues across different branches and backgrounds. This not only made me a better communicator, but also taught me the importance of effective team work.
In addition, I have taken and continue to take several online courses from platforms such as Coursera and Google, all of which have immensely helped me explore several topics in depth and equip myself with industry specific skills. In particular, the course ‘Convolutional Neural Networks’ offered by DeepLearning.AI in Coursera proved to be extremely helpful in understanding how convolution works in the background.
My interest lies in Automated Software for ML systems, combining MLOps and DevOps. I strongly believe that this internship opportunity at AMD would be the most suitable platform to gain real-world experience. Working on cutting edge software deployment and management tools and integrating it with ML models intrigues me and I look forward to making the best use of this invaluable opportunity.
