Hi,
I hope this letter finds you well. I saw your job posting inviting applications for the position of Economist and am very interested in applying for it. I believe I am a good fit for the role as I have over five years of combined experience across investment banking and economic research.
As a Research Associate at the National Council of Applied Economic Research I have worked on multiple papers on macroeconomics and public finance. I have a strong understanding of the global economy and macroeconomic developments. I am proficient in STATA, having used it for various econometric analyses.
At Credit Suisse, I worked extensively on client portfolio pricing, balance sheet minimization, analyzing portfolio returns, and improving client performance, and was able to sharpen my skills in MS Excel, VBA, Tableau and SQL. I was exposed to the regulatory framework of the Prime Brokerage and Flow business across Asia, the US and the UK. On being promoted to Assistant Vice President, I collaborated with the IT teams and senior management to lead database development and enhancement projects. I also mentored new members, ensuring seamless integration into the team while maintaining high-quality output.
Through my Master’s at the University of Nottingham, I learnt in detail the concepts of international economics and trade, policy analysis, and econometric methods, which I was able to apply in my role as a research associate. It gave me perspective into the global economy and helped me understand the nuance behind economic environments and policy making across nations.
Having worked across both economic research and investment banking, I have a strong understanding of both fields, and through my education and work experiences I have acquired the technical and interpersonal skills to complement my knowledge in the same. I hope to be positively considered for this role or other available positions in the organization.
