I am Atul Kumar & I am an XLRI (2013-15) alumni currently working in Tata Steel as Senior Manager. I have a total experience of 9 years (3 years post B.Tech & 6+ years post MBA from XLRI). Further details of my work experience are mentioned below:
• 2 Years of Strategy & Operations experience in Sports Vertical of Tata Steel
• 4 years of Procurement & Supply Chain experience in Steel & Mining Industry in Tata Steel
• 3 years of experience in the Energy Sector in ESSAR Power Limited
To give a brief about my Sports experience, I have been working in the Sports ecosystem extensively at Academy level, Grassroot Level as well as at Professional Club level in Tata Steel (Jamshedpur Football Club- JFC). Most of these initiatives in Tata steel are being operated through CSR Funds and hence I have a solid experience of managing Sports initiatives under CSR.

I have an experience of working directly under the CEO of Jamshedpur FC in devising a 5 year strategy of the club and raising Sponsorships for Tata Steel’s Professional Football Club. Along with that I have had the experience of managing the Operations of Jamshedpur FC as well as working with the Marketing Team for Ticketing & Revenue generation strategies for the club.
I also have experience of establishing the Tata Steel Sports High Performance Centre including conceptualization of Sports Science vertical, getting management approvals, Equipment procurement, hiring the team of domain experts (S&Cs, Physios, Psychologist, Nutritionist, Masseurs etc.) & operationalizing it. I also manage the TSL-HPC setup which includes managing the operations, revenue generation strategies & getting Sponsorships to make the entire setup self-sustainable. The entire setup of TSL-HPC is being operated through CSR Funds of Tata Steel.

In my current role, I work with Elite Group (Arjuna Awardee Jayanta Talukdar, Komalika Bari, and Ankita Bhakat from Archery & Para badminton Player Umesh Vikram), Elite Coaches (Korean Coach- Chae Woong Lim, Purnima Mahato, Dharmendra Tiwary) as well as with other athletes currently being groomed up.
I also have good experience of digital marketing initiatives as I have led the launch of key digital initiatives like First ever Online Summer Camp covering 19 different sports on Tata Steel’s Corporate YouTube channel garnering more than 60,000 views and launching Jamshedpur Run-a-thon virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I also have a strong experience as a Category Manager for the Procurement & Supply Chain vertical of Tata Steel taking care of annual procurement of Rs. 300 Crores. I also led the project of devising and implementing the Supply chain & Inbound logistics strategy for incoming MRO spares worth Rs. 1500 Crore leading to ~10% reduction in incoming logistics expense during the pilot implementation itself
