NCAER, the National Council of Applied Economic Research, is India’s oldest and largest national, non-profit, independent economic research institute. NCAER undertakes grant-funded research and commissioned studies for Central and State governments and industry. Only nine years younger than the nation, NCAER has over its 65 years contributed much to the country through its high-quality, relevant economic research that has policy impact. Its research covers almost the entire horizon of policy-focused applied research in economics, from macroeconomics to poverty and consumer behaviour. The availability of research and field data collection opportunities in multiple areas under one roof is distinctive at NCAER, and makes for more insightful and robust research that is not limited to one or more silos and is often economy-wide.
Over the last few decades, NCAER has developed capacity to build, operate and execute multi-sector computable general equilibrium models for India in a global context for policy analysis in the realm of agriculture, trade, industry, environment, and climate change. This capacity has been and will remain an important resource for analyzing many policy choices relating to allocation of scarce resources across sectors in a number of alternative policy scenarios.
We are looking for young researchers interested in working in this area at NCAER.
