Roles and Responsibilities:
In-depth knowledge of conveyor mechanical systems in automotive assembly plants
Design & Develop conveyors for various manufacturing shops in Car/Truck /electric Plant.
Ensure & support the regional and plant representatives to execute conveyor projects on time & within budget
Execution experience of conveyor projects in various shops.
Ensure the GDHS & Conveyor safety standards are incorporated in the conveyor systems
Supervise and control projects including project scope, issues, risks and schedule. Handle issues to closure. Communicate project status and ensures all internal customers are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and reviews.
Provide cost analysis based on automation level.
Participate in Investment studies, preliminary design discussions for any new or expansion projects.
Benchmarking of the GM conveyor cost estimates with other companies
Guide & approve designs done by contractors for various projects. Conduct offline testing & Buyoff at supplier’s site.
Coordination with all the conveyor team in the plants for technical and estimate related matter
Proliferate GM conveyor standards in all plants.
Responsible for deploying GM Global standards across all projects.
Responsible for training and Integrating Suppliers to enforce to GM standards.
Responsible for performing Root cause analysis.
Coordinate project timing schedule, design deliverables and safety aspects with team. Jointly conduct test runs for equipment at site as per process.
Coordinate with Process team for timing, process changes.
Coordination with other units of GM (worldwide) for Global projects as per requirement.
The engineer will be primarily responsible for execution of all conveyor related projects in various capacities at GM plants across the Globe with respect to Safety, Delivery, Quality, Cost and Performance.
In this position the Engineer will perform offline designs and online execution on various new or existing product programs across our portfolio. The incumbent will need to possess a broad technical knowledge, combined with creative and independent thinking and conceptual ability.
This position will be based out of GM Technical Center India in Bangalore and involves extensive travel opportunities across different regions for project execution.

Knowledge:
In depth knowledge of Conveyor systems in Body, Paint & GA shops
Thorough knowledge of Engineering, Manufacturing, Installation & Commissioning of Conveyor systems
Demonstrate the skills for developing & implementing low cost conveyor solutions without compromising the global conveyor standards
Adequate knowledge of control systems in terms of understanding the conveyor operation logic
Expertise in project execution in terms of delivering the project on time and in budget
Knowledge of Design for Health and Safety
Considerable depth of technical understanding of some other areas related to plant floor systems, tooling, conveyors, etc

Experience/Education:
Masters/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5-10 years’ experience in any Automotive companies or Conveyors Company with sufficient field exposure.
