Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Problem solving across the spectrum of Discovery, Development, and Deployment of high-performance ceramic and functional materials

• Develop coatings solutions that provide thermal/environmental protection

• Network across GE to understand critical business problems that require materials and manufacturing based solutions; build redressal plans and execute

• Constant awareness of mega-trends in the world, and the materials solutions that are needed to enable these mega-trends

Qualifications and Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Materials Science, chemistry, ceramics with 2+ years research experience in discovery and/or development of new chemistries/materials

• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, phase-equilibria, materials synthesis

• Good publication and/or patent record.

• Should be able to quote clear past examples for the following

innovative thinking and implementation of ideas application of rigorous research methodologies challenging scientific theory and pushing the envelope of understanding

• Good teaming skills and ability to work with wide range of technical teams and projects.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Characteristics

• Knowledge of thermal and environmental barrier coatings – composition and process

• Knowledge of chemistry-processing-structure-property relationships in TBC, EBC and hard coatings

• Knowledge of carbon capture materials and their development principals

• An understanding of thermal oxidation of fuels/oils

• Direct experience with computational methods as applied to the above

• Expertise in microstructural analysis and representation

• Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion

• Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensure that they are met

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
