ABB Looking For Local Trade Compliance Officer – India at Bengaluru, Karnataka, Full Time

You will be working as Local Trade Compliance Officer – India and will be part of Motion Business Area for Drive Products Division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to Trade & Transportation Manager and will be responsible for supporting Local Business Management in India in ensuring that all Local Businesses conduct their activities in line with ABB Trade policies and guidelines, as well as to drive and coordinate the local implementation of ABB`s Global Trade Program.

Your responsibilities

• Leading and managing the implementation of ABB’s Global Trade Program in accordance with country regulatory requirements to enable standardization, optimization and compliance for the Local Business
• Cooperating closely with local Business Partners and Local Trade Professionals in related domains to ensure seamless connection between overall Trade Compliance and day-to-day operations
• Leading efforts to ensure that ABB’s imports are properly valued, including customs valuation branch for periodical review and arranging SVB (special Valuation Branch) order and establishing systems and control checks to monitor ABB’s activities
• Providing advice on the appropriate country of origin determinations, country of origin marking of imports, export controls and sanctions as necessary and monitors processes
• Supporting Local Business Units with applications for free/foreign trade zones, customs warehouses or similar special-use zones or permits alongside the development of processes for operating the zone/warehouse
• Monitoring local export and import regulatory and legislative changes and alerting the appropriate parties on the impact to the business. Supporting Local Business Units and legal counsel for litigation with various authorities, ranging from the Assistant Commissioner level to the Supreme Court
• Supporting all local business divisions for all licenses (Advance/EPCG/) and Export Incentives (E-Scrips and Duty Drawback) requirements with concerned Govt. Department (Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance)
• Assessing compliance programs and practices, identifying gaps and weaknesses, making recommendations to the Country/Global Business Area Trade Manger and implementing approved plans

Your background

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in international Trade, Supply Chain, Economics or similar
• Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience and profound knowledge in Trade Operation Compliance with an emphasis on Local regulations
• Experience in conducting internal audits and in the implementation of internal control systems (ICP), processes for international trade and in free trade agreements and classifications under the World Customs Organization (WCO) Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
• Familiar with the US Export Administration Regulations and the global sanctions framework including U.S. sanctions and embargo programs
• Knowledge of Global Trade Management systems (active use of SAP-GTS) is a advantage. Ability to draft reply to notices or enquiries from various government departments independently
• Supervising, developing and being the knowledge leader for the internal team of tax persons operating from the locations
• Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to explain in a simple manner, customs operation, export/import control and sanctions concepts that are quite technical
