As an Executive Assistant, you will complete high volumes of tasks with minimal guidance or supervision while maintaining awareness of deadline sensitivity. As such, the candidate must be skilled at anticipating problems, creating contingency plans, managing multiple priorities, problem solving and organizing logistics. A successful candidate will want to take on varied and exciting new projects and also learn new skills. You will need to take effective action without having to know the total picture, and efficiently and proactively solve difficult or complex problems that affect people within the department or other related groups
A day in the life
As an Executive Assistant, you will work in a team environment, build effective working relationships inside and outside of the group, while keeping abreast of general business objectives, policies, standards, services, facilities, procedures and related information in order to maintain a comprehensive awareness of the organization. A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information, and professionalism in dealing with leaders (at and outside Amazon) is important, as is the ability to be flexible and change direction seamlessly and handle multiple tasks at once. You will manage complex calendars, scheduling with diplomacy, organize team activities (staff meetings, off-sites, engagement events), manage travel scheduling, co-ordinate purchase orders.
An important key to our success is building and maintaining healthy relationships across the various organizations, some of which are peer organizations, some who are internal customers, and some who we rely upon for foundational building blocks and technologies we integrate into our products. A big part of your job will be to understand the complex organizational structure and strengthening our relationships and collaboration with adjacent teams. So, as you begin to meet people and establish your network it’s important to foster strong relationships of trust and cooperation, and to build up a good “map” of how the various teams and leaders fit together.

The Device OS team plays a central role in creating these innovative devices at Lab126. The Device OS team is responsible for the board bring up, low level software, core operating system architecture, innovative framework feature development, associated cloud services and end-to-end system functions that brings these devices to life. The software built by the Device OS team runs on all Amazon consumer electronics devices. The Device OS team also develops Amazon Common Software (ACS), a solution that makes it faster to develop devices that are transforming the smart home and run Amazon services like Alexa!
