Job Purpose Description

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job context: EHS is a fundamental aspect of managing an organization as it impacts on all the functions within the organization Injury, accidents results in a great deal of pain and suffering where assets, material employee & customers involved which has direct and indirect impact on the business.

Team Member-Safety is responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines. Team Member – safety main goal will be to always ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents.

The Major Challenges Involved Are

• Budgetary Fitting: Difficult to ensure high level of EHS system in regions and to the store or a facility level. Budget constraints make it more difficult to ensure inbuilt safety during design and project commissioning stage.
• Business Alignment: Role would require in producing reports and developing relevant policies and aligning with the business objectives (With minimal operational risks).
• Skill set: Ability to be calm and composed in case of emergency and ability to take the decisions which can impact the life of employees.
• Interpersonal Skills: Role requires Excellent organizational and motivational skills with Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. To make people understand importance of safety and to change the safety behavior among the work force is the organization is a big challenge.
• Compliance Management: Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that the ABFRL has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.

Key Result Areas

Monitor Health & Safety

• Monitor incidents of injury, illness, and other situations within an assigned geographic area.
• Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards to ensure compliance.
• Conduct monthly management reviews & improvement plan

Create EHS Awareness & Training & Emergency preparedness

• Creating EHS awareness through various channels e.g. mails, PPTs, conducting quiz and competitions
• Design training programs to provide safety awareness education.
• Conduct Safety trainings across the organization in regular intervals, emergency preparedness and drills as per schedule.

Conduct EHS Audit

• Conduct and ensure EHS audits as per protocol
• Ensure revision of EHS audit protocol and checklist as per business requirements

Drive EHS in design, Planning and routine activities

• Develop all aspects of ABFRL’s health, safety and wellbeing policies and activity, and ensure its implementation consistently across the organization and ABFRL networks.
• To find out PPE s and safety items requirements.

Ensure accident Investigation, Reporting & Corrective action

• Ensure implementation of accident reporting, investigation systems (Collection of past accident data from all facilities, Accident analysis pre and post implementation of safety system) – Across all zones.
• Give presentations about current safety hazards based on market research to educate others about avoiding health, safety, and environmental hazards
• Write reports detailing health and safety within their assigned research market.
• Go into the field to investigate environmental accidents and other public safety concerns within their market. They may also assign team members to investigate reported incidents.

Conduct EHS Audit

• To conduct and ensure EHS audits as per protocol
• Ensure revision of EHS audit protocol and checklist as per business requirements
• Oversee and undertake audits where appropriate and ensure an action plan with SMART objectives is established to address issues identified

Drive Safety KPI’s

• Drive Safety KPI’s in Retail Stores, warehouses, Factories and Offices.
