Job Description

Typical duties for an IT Systems Engineer assigned to Data Center may include but are not limited to: identifying, troubleshooting and resolving system hardware and software problems on all Windows/UNIX systems; implementing, managing and administering user and email accounts, network file share rights, and security roles by performing account and system administration (Active Directory accounts, application and system accounts, passwords resets, etc.); installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, administering, monitoring, and maintaining various operating systems, associated software, virtual management systems, servers, networking, clustering, storage, and software applications; reviewing, deploying and monitoring OS system, application and anti-virus releases, patches, and updates; operating and performance-tuning storage platforms across the organization to ensure high levels of data quality, availability and security; and implementing storage architectures that utilize industry best practices. The IDEAL CANDIDATE should have the following: KNOWLEDGE OF:
Methods and techniques for installing, testing and operating hardware and software; principles of data communications and telecommunications pertaining to installing, testing and maintaining IT systems; principles of TCP/IP and related protocols; micro/mini/mainframe computer operating systems; relational database concepts, database design and maintenance; scripting languages and utilities; application and infrastructure system fundamentals and concepts; standard business practices and basic accounting and fiscal procedures; concepts, methods, techniques, and capabilities of platform connectivity products; concepts, methods and techniques of project management pertaining to information technology; capabilities of imaging, scanning and electronic capturing; Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) v3 Foundation (service strategy, design, transition, operation, and service improvement); and principles of customer service. SKILL & ABILITY TO:
Design, analyze and implement multi-level platform systems; identify and define software and hardware problems, and develop viable solutions and alternatives; use system utilities to effectively resolve hardware and software problems; learn and apply advancements in IT to existing system environments; establish and meet objectives of IT work teams and effectively facilitate, manage and lead the work of a team of IT professional and technical staff; communicate effectively in a clear, concise and understandable manner when speaking to individuals and teams; communicate effectively in writing when preparing documents that accurately describe application, hardware, and system configuration interfaces, and when preparing instructions, training manuals, guidelines, and other reports; establish effective working relationships with management, employees and representative of outside agencies; exercise appropriate judgment in answering questions and releasing information; analyze and project consequences of decisions and/or recommendations; and prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
