The team youll be part of

You will be part of ION R&D Planning tools group that is working on the Next Generation Planning tool used to define and deploy 1830 PSS SWDM systems.

What you will learn and contribute to

• Test the complete path from generating network design to perform the provisioning of the same on the network element (real NE or simulators), use the Network manager to create services and Upload the data from the deployed network

• Develop detailed test plans for optical network design tool that interacts with network elements and operations support systems

• Have a deep understanding of the performance limitations of DWDM systems, transmission properties, network impairment like OSNR, PMD, Span loss and of various optical fibers type

• Perform fault analysis to aid in prioritization of possible test combinations to provide minimal set of tests that ensure the desired coverage

• Focus on implementation of automation scripts for all test cases (Python language)

• Execution of the tests both in manual and using automatic scripts

• Have a results based view of day-to-day work assignment

• Able to work in Agile environment

• Work closely with the development team (systems engineers, circuit designers, and software developers), other internal team like network management system ones, customer teams, product management and project leader

  Your skills and experience

  • A M.S. in optics, physics, or electrical engineering.

  • Previous experience in telecommunications network and system verification

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and also work effectively within a team

  • Programming skills (Preferably Python, Java, C++)

  • Technologies: DWDM, CWDM, SONET, OTN, Ethernet, IP, GMPLS

  • Equipment: ROADM, OXC, EDFA, Raman Amplifiers, Amplifiers, OEO-OXC

  • Computer Language: Python, Java, Java-Script, C, C++, SQL, xml

  • Software Tools: Jenkins, Ansible, MS Office

  • Testing of WEB based applications, Testing of Client Server applications

  • Use of Jira
