Storage Capabilities Team – Object Storage Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Designs, engineers and manages Allstate’s storage infrastructure. Must have the ability and experience to drive storage improvement efforts, through implementation of new technologies and/or automation in a secure data center or cloud environment. Responsible for lifecycle management, as well as, the development and deployment of new capabilities within the storage infrastructures. Work on a team of storage administrators/engineers as a point of contact for all internal client needs and infrastructure projects. Accountable for the certification, security, and implementation of new hardware, software, and capabilities for storage technologies.

Purpose of the position:

• Primary purpose is to manage Allstate’s Object-Based Storage infrastructure, onboard new business units and applications to the platform, contribute to storage automation efforts, delivery of new S3 storage capabilities to support Allstate’s business needs, and ensure storage security standards are met.

Scope of position includes:

• Enterprise storage management and administration
• Automation of storage administration and management as needed.
• Protect enterprise storage against security vulnerabilities and attacks
• Management of S3 on-prem storage platforms/resources, including RHEL/LINUX patching/upgrades, HPE BIOS/Firmware, and Scality Software Defined Storage upgrades (S3 Cloud Connector and RING)
• Engagement with internal business functions, other IT support organizations, and multiple diverse application support teams
• Management and administration of SAN and NAS platforms as needed

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Design/create/automate storage solutions to meet business unit requirements. Responsible for lifecycle management of object storage platforms. Introduce and deploy new storage capabilities through the introduction and deployment of new technologies. Develop and deploy storage automation to improve service delivery. Represent the storage teams in collaborative efforts and projects with internal clients and other infrastructure teams. Maintain a relationship with storage vendors and stay abreast of their latest technology offerings and recommend new capabilities that provide value to Allstate. Establish, implement, and perform storage management functions that ensure the resiliency, maintainability, and security of the storage infrastructure. Translate business requirements into storage and data protection tasks and documentation. Adhere to policies and practices associated with change management, incident management, problem management, and release management in the storage infrastructure. Research and respond to inquiries regarding solution alternatives, execution, or delivery. Effectively manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Research new storage and related technologies that would add value in the Allstate infrastructure. Produce policy, best practice, and procedural documentation for all storage related software and hardware implemented in the storage infrastructure. Perform testing of new software, OS, and firmware/BIOS patches to the storage environment and produce procedural documentation for the deployment in production environments. Monitor storage usage and assist with capacity management for all datacenters. Document procedures for all storage policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provide 3rd level support for all production storage infrastructure platforms including performance tuning.

Primary Skills

Required Technical Qualifications:

• Solid knowledge of S3 object storage principles and constructs
• Knowledge of SAN and NAS storage technologies
• Knowledge and experience with the AWS S3 protocol and IAM policies
• Knowledge of core object storage administration and management concepts such as geographically dispersed data protection, erasure coding, and REST API
• Understanding of IP networking principles including load balancing and firewalls
• Thorough knowledge RHEL administration and patching
• Knowledge of Python scripting, Jenkins, and GitHub

Experience

Desired Technical Qualifications:

• Experience with the Scality Object-Based Storage platform
• Cloud Computing and Storage technologies (AWS, Azure)
• Docker Container fundamentals
• Broad understanding of SAN and NAS, Fiber Channel Switches
• Hitachi Storage Arrays, NetApp, Brocade, IBM, and Nimble
• Knowledge and experience with VMware ESX, VMware vSAN, RHEL, and Windows Server.
• Familiar with NetApp’s OnCommand suite of management utilities (OnCommand Insight, OnCommand Unified Manager) and Hitachi Command Suite
• Experience with addressing vulnerabilities in storage protocols and storage platforms.
• Experience with ServiceNow
