Retail Pricing Shared Services

Retail Pricing Shared Services sets prices for all Amazon formats, earning our Customers’ trust with consistently low prices. We publish 5Bn+ weekly prices for 20+ Amazon formats (Retail, S3P, Fresh, Promotions, Amazon Business, and others), own new pricing strategies and deliver them reliably at scale, and prevent errors in our prices. We own a central pricing infrastructure and federate it for our client formats, and utilize ML to automate our pricing decisions.

What would I do in this team?

You own a global mission with large Customer impact: in this role, you determine and set the best prices for Amazon Customers in a key business area (e.g. Fresh or Retail). One of our technical leaders has this to say: “one thing which made me decide to join the Pricing team was impact on customers. Even with minor changes, Pricing makes a big impact on Amazon customers. This is something unique, not always available in other teams”.

Ask critical questions: what seems impossible right now, but is actually ready for disruption? What can I do for my Customer to love their prices – not just to accept them?

Automate away human intervention. We believe humans are ill-equipped to handl prices manually, and we are building a better world for our Customers with automation and ML.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience

• 7+ years of engineering experience

• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

• Experience working with Machine Learning Engineering and science
