The Commercial Data Office (CoDO) team, within Global Commercial Services (GCS), is focused on powering the best customer experience and business growth through streamlined data. With continuous changes in the regulatory environment and innovation through data evolving, CoDO plays a key role in strengthening GCS critical enablers and supporting new growth opportunities. In partnership with the Enterprise Data Office and across GCS, CoDO is tasked with improving existing systems and building new, innovative data solutions for our customers, while adhering to regulations and data management best practices.
How will you make an impact in this role?
The Manager – Data Strategy will report to the Director of Commercial Data strategy within Commercial Data Office (CoDO). This role will lead a team of data analysts responsible for research and discovery needed to support the data strategy creation and architecture solutions developed by CoDO along with Business, Product and Technology partners. This role will also collaborate with peers from Commercial Data Governance, Data Quality & Issue Management and Commercial Data Capabilities and Tools to evolve and deliver against CoDO’s strategy and roadmap.
We are looking for a data strategist with strong data discovery skills, data management background and guide understanding of standard methodologies in data systems. In this highly visible role, you will partner with other CoDO data strategy members to define areas for research in order to refine the data strategy and make recommendations which drive value against CoDO’s strategic pillars. A qualified individual for this role must be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization to understand the customer use cases and difficulties regarding data. They will be expected to seek deeper understanding of difficulties and areas of opportunity to be able to suggest possible outcomes to the wider strategy team. This individual will be encouraged to be a curious self-starter who seeks to find the data necessary to draw appropriate conclusions, and drive execution of strategic data initiatives to address these areas
Collaborate with product managers, product owners, data owners and power users to unify Commercial data through modern data management techniques.
Design innovative Commercial Data strategies that will enable a consistent, trusted, and available data across the organization, to drive growth, productivity and cost reduction.
Support creation of comprehensive Data Architecture, roadmap and associated data artifacts.
Drive partnerships across the organization to fully understand data needs and challenges and link to requirements.
Partner with Chief Data Office and Enterprise architecture teams to customize the data and architectural standards and guidelines for Commercial Services
Partner with Data Governance and Program Office to ensure adherence to frameworks and standard methodologies.
Understand the stages of data lifecycle and facilitate definition of conceptual and logical data models for Card/Non-Card products and services across Commercial lines of business.
Apply prioritization principles and lead planning discussions with data partners.
Build a highly engaged and strong performing team that has right blend of subject knowledge, collaboration and focus on driving business results.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of direct work experience in Data strategy / Data management space
Experience understanding the origin and lineage of data along a business operation life cycle
Experience prioritizing data for hard-working data platforms, critical data elements, structured and unstructured needs.
Experience optimally working in a matrix organization alongside multi-national and cross-functional teams
Ability to work in white space to design and bring to life data solutions for solving complex challenges.
Outstanding relationship and influencing skills to collaborate with internal and external partners to define data strategy
Strong people leader with success in motivating hard-working teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience on collecting data needs, identifying root cause of data challenges, articulating business value from data, and defining data roadmaps
Experience envisioning and rollout of operational and analytical data strategies across diverse distribution channels and user personas
Experience on data modeling tools and terminologies.
Experience on various data base technologies, including data platforms on cloud
