About The Role

As a Cloud engineer in Payment’s Messaging domain you will be responsible for building, maintaining and running ANZ’s secure cloud platforms based on Google Cloud. You will be working closely with a number of team including application teams, and Enterprise Cloud teams to transition these applications to the Cloud. You will be responsible for, connecting to tooling, methodology and automation to enable rapid cloud adoption as well as ensuring Cloud performance, reliability, security and availability to support our business. You will do this with sound engineering discipline, delivering cloud-native security and enterprise security, controls, and governance that mean we have a platform we can trust. You will partner closely with analysts, other engineers, Release leads, support staff and Product Owners to understand the requirements and to ensure the delivery of work meets customer expectations. We use many of the latest and greatest open-source tools, You will need to be comfortable with constantly learning new applications, tools and techniques along with running proof of concept evaluations to keep us on the leading edge. We will turn to you for suggestions on how to improve the platforms, processes and tools. We expect that you already have great ideas you can share at our cloud guilds & user groups, along with industry Meetups.
You will also need to be comfortable with and promote knowledge sharing with the messaging applications squads that you will be working with, in order to improve the overall Cloud knowledge and skill set of the teams
About You
To grow and be successful in this role you will ideally bring the following: Certifications:

• Computer programming degree or equivalent.
• Cloud technical training and certifications.

Essential skills We are looking for engineers that already possess some or all of the following skills/experience:

• Agile delivery experience such as Scrum, Kanban and Feature Driven Development is highly desirable as is the use collaboration tools such as Jira and confluence.

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, patterns and practices.

• Experience in building and run Cloud technology at scale with either AWS, GCP or Azure.

• Comfortable coding in one or more languages (bash, JavaScript, Golang, Python, Powershell, etc) and you use these skills to automate as much as possible.

• Ability to advise upon, design and implement cloud security, availability and reliability best practices.

• Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift.

• Experience implementing Infrastructure as code via eg Terraform/Cloud Formation, along with continuous integration/delivery tooling such as Bitbucket/GitHub, Google Cloud Build/Bamboo/Jenkins, Spinnaker, etc.

• Knowledge of IP networking is advantageous

• Payments and Messaging domain knowledge is advantageous.

• Agile delivery approaches such as Scrum, Kanban, Feature Driven Development, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner is advantageous.

• 8-15 years engineering experience.
