Director – Operations, who play a crucial leadership role in shaping up all it’s operations for the benefit of social sector.

Job Purpose

External Interface Initiative: Goal of this program is to build a successful partnership between Government, Academia, Research Institutes and other players , to contribute collectively towards effectuating progressing policies for the social sector. It has following objectives .

· Influencing key Government Policies that effectuate the smooth functioning of NGOs

· Building working relations with the departments of State and Central Governments in order to further improve process and systems in Govt interventions with NGO

· Influence universities and other academic institutes to influence to build NGO management curriculum in the courses related to social work and aligned courses

· Enhance human resource pool for the sector through creating better research and field work projects for social work students

· Build relationship with research and publications related institutes to promote research on social sector matters and to bring out publications

Take a lead to ensure that all its operations makes a meaning full impact on the social sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Understanding purpose of NGO’s existence (its overall goal, objectives, programs, policies and values etc)

2. In-depth understanding of Government Interface Program and developing a reading material on the same for the use of various stake holders

3. Prepare a detailed annual action plans

4. Develop contacts with all related departments – state and Central level, Universities and Research institutions.

5. Coordinate the existing collaborative efforts with

a. Integrated Child Protection Society (Women and Child Devt Dept)

b. RDPR Department – assist them to bring out Karnataka State Policy on NGOs

6. Establish working relations with other departments to link with various interventions of NGO and with other institutes

7. Explore possibilities of NGO to become member in various Committees of Government

8. Register NGO under KEA of planning department , Karnataka

9. Organize and coordinate a research to explore issues for policy influence

c. Identify research institution/individual to carry out a research to explore issues that needs policy interventions. Develop TOR and sign the MOU

d. Monitor the process of research and ensure directions of research as per TOR

e. Ensure that the research is completed within the agreed timeframe

f. Organise workshop with stakeholder to decide the issues to be taken up for policy influence and to decide on working approach

g. Create online dialogue and discussions around the selected issues for policy influence

h. Submit white papers on policy related issues and work with other stake holders to influence the same

Qualifications

Degree /Masters Degree in any stream

Specialization in any social science, any course in leadership management, Net working, Public Policy

Knowledge

Sound knowledge of Government functioning and minimum 5 years working experience with Government (either directly or through collaboration)

Towards research, publications, Course design

Experience

Minimum 10 years of working experience in Networking, Collaborative efforts, Govt interface

Exposure to Govt assignments such as deputation to the department, Leading a project with Govt department

Working with Academia in curriculum development, designing and running short term courses

Skills

Positive and excellent people skills be able to collaborate with all levels government officials, Academia and other institutes, comfortable working within the system of Government, willing to take their inputs and be straight and clear in partnership efforts

Able to reach and negotiate with senior officials of Government

Mandatory working knowledge of Kannada and English (to read, write and to speak fluently)

Must be able to use computer and handle internet, Word, XL, PowerPoint

Language – Hindi and Tamil

Organising events/seminars along with Govt or other institutes

Salary: ₹700,000.00 – ₹1,000,000.00 per year
