Job Description

SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins Business is hiring an experienced Civil Engineering BIM Manager for our digital design delivery team. The incumbent will carry out a host of functions that span from internal process improvements to supporting project delivery. The successful candidate should be a people, process, tool (in that order) focused individual whose job it will be to ensure our project delivery teams adhere to common standards and the latest design delivery techniques. The candidate will also actively support project teams on proposal and project
delivery tasks.

JOB Responsibility :

• Works alongside the Design/Project manager to integrate outcomes and link information delivery with design delivery.
• Works with Clients / LPO to help facilitate the set up and delivery of programme in accordance with their EIR (if they have one), if no EIR is present and BIM level 2 is mandated- the IM works with Client to advise on key elements of the EIR, however the BEP becomes the effective EIR.
• Ensures information management processes (ISO19650) and collaborative actions are fully embraced across the project.
• Managing and preparation of Civil 3D models and subsequent drawing output production
• Ensuring CAD/BIM Standards are adhered to across the team
• Create CAD/BIM standards for projects
• Lead a team of BIM technicians/modelers to ensure they acquire and maintain the skills necessary to deliver projects efficiently in the evolving CAD/BIM environment required by our clients
• Participate in a diverse range of projects, focused on improving our workflows, authoring tools, and information exchanges
• Developing and retaining good quality staff, facilitating training, completing appraisals, interim reviews
• Perform project and design file health checks, model management, maintenance, and assessments
• Assist in project setups including the creation of BIM Execution Plans
• Implement design coordination and issue tracking (Clash Detection) on major projects
• Ability to manage information exchanges between internal and external project participants
• Ability to communicate complicated project technical issues to a wide variety of stakeholders
• Identify opportunities for business advantage through the innovative use BIM Modelling technology
• Produce and maintain a high level and consistent accuracy & quality of models and drawings with self-check & review work
• Lead the delivery of BIM modelling output on projects
• Lead a team of BIM Technicians and or project design staff on delivering projects to control design program
• Implement and maintain the use company, project and client CAD/BIM Modelling Standards and protocols throughout the team
• Ensure all project data is correctly established and maintained in accordance with company standards and project requirements
• Actively conduct project audits to ensure compliance and continued improvement
• Introduce learning and continuous improvement to the group in development of BIM modelling techniques and processes

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or equivalent technical discipline plus fifteen years’ experience progressive drafting and design experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS

• Extensive Autodesk: Civil 3D, and Navisworks experience
• Experience developing and implementing project information exchanges and data management on design projects
• Detailed knowledge of model-based design (BIM) protocols, standards, and software
• Strong understanding in developing, supporting, and managing models per project standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and prioritize tasks in a logical order
• Have knowledge of Autodesk: Revit, Plant 3D, Bentley MicroStation and Esri Products to assist the wider BIM team
• Experience developing horizontal and vertical alignments, generating profiles, cross sections, digital terrain (surface) modelling, plans with cut & fill volumes, modelling utilities and drainage
• Experience in production of Civil engineering detailed to construction drawings: plans, profiles, sections & details, for multi-disciplinary projects
• Maintain an overview of developments in IT based CAD/BIM modelling systems and standard Codes of Practice.
• Understand BIM direction within the industry and be familiar with and able to implement the latest AEC BIM/CAD protocols
• Proven track record of Team leader responsibilities
• Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure
