About the Team: The mission of our Software Define Network Controller (SDN-C) team in at&t is to provide a Software-defined network (SDN) Platform that acts as strategic control point in the SDN network, manage flow control to the switches/routers via southbound APIs and the applications and business logic ‘above’ via northbound APIs to deploy intelligent networks. SDN-C is the network controller component of the at&t’s Domain 2.0 platform that coordinates the network connectivity of Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs), Physical Network Functions (PNFs), and Infrastructure Networking Functions (INFs). The team is responsible for supporting SDN-X systems that deliver AT&T’s flexible, programmable and re-useable interface into network functions, protocols and devices. It is responsible for “Safe Change in State of the Network”, “Resource assignments to ensure the Change in State”, “Database of record for network configuration data for their domain”.
Job Summary: We’re looking for an energetic self-starter and quick learner Software Developer with an attention to innovation and creative ideas, who has constant focus on design, development, and implementation of complex cloud-based core telecom network provisioning applications with a quick turnaround time. Software Developer engineer are responsible for translating the core architecture for business requirements into the final technical solution (consisting of platform, network, software, cloud, etc.) through functional, performance, and reliability analysis using engineering models and techniques, primarily through software development throughout the vertical stack. The developer will participate in the software product development life cycle from inception to production launch and post-production support. They must possess a strong technical background to ensure they are designing modular & scalable web components; they must have a well-rounded technical background in current web and micro-service technologies. We need a particular focus on experience with the Spring framework, and knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, Microservices, Docker & Kubernetes, with excellent problem-solving skills. Azure related exposure and knowledge of AI & Machin Learning would also be desirable.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, debug and document new and existing components to ensure that software meets business, quality and operational needs
• Work with portfolio stakeholders, Solution and Enterprise Architects, to develop, analyze, split, and realize the implementation of features & enablers
• Build high quality code following unit testing and test-driven development
• Establish critical NFRs at the solution level, participate in the definition of others
• Drive and participate in code and document reviews
• Collaborate with peer organizations, dev ops, support organizations on technical issues and provide guidance
• Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality and performance is achieved
• Apply deep technical expertise to resolve challenging programming and design problems
• Focus on scalability, security and availability of all applications and processes
• Contribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable and maintainable software
• Regularly innovate using creative design thinking for new ideas to help the team, organization, and community.

Shift timing (if any):

• Shift falls typically between 10 am to 10 PM India standard time. Occasionally may have to work long hours in situations when it is needed.

Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad Primary / Mandatory skills:

• Overall Experience: 6+ years of development experience in large scale mission critical applications using Java enterprise application development technologies on Linux, Unix Platforms.
• 5+ years of experience building web applications using Java, Spring, REST & databases.
• Progressive experience in the following areas: application delivery using agile methodologies; subject matter expertise in building Java-based high-volume/high-transaction applications.
• Experience in (at least two of the following) Java, Python, Shell scripts, Docker, Kubernetes and Cloud environments.
• Experience of application development for Telecom OSS applications / products.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to work in a Global team

Secondary / Desired skills:

• 4+ years of experience in architecture and design of systems using Micro services architecture
• 4+ years of experience in a leadership capacity – coaching and mentoring engineers, developers
• 2+ years of experience in cloud technologies: AWS, Azure, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Netconf, Chef
• 2+ years of experience in build and CICD technologies: GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus or Sonar
• 3+ years of experience in Unit and Function testing using Junit, Mockito, SoapUI or Postman
• Proficiency in Unix/Linux command line
• Expert knowledge and experience working with asynchronous message processing, stream processing and event driven computing.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum/Kanban development team
• Familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3
• Certified in Java, Spring or Azure technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear manner to peers, developers, and senior leaders
