JOB DESCRIPTION: Within discipline develops designs for complete and complex engineering systems, structures and plant arrangements with minimum supervision.Plans and executes the presentation of these in graphic form or in detailed scale models.Works independently on design projects. JOB DIMENSIONS: A.Supervision Received: .Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from an engineering supervisor. B.Supervision Exercised .Assigns tasks to and monitors work of employees in the group when assigned lead responsibility. C.Contacts .Contacts technical specialists to obtain technical information. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 1.When working in a lead-role: a)Assigns tasks to best use the knowledge, experience and capabilities of less experienced designers/drafters assigned. b)Reviews and checks 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion. c)Ensures compliance with approved design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design. d)Develops work plans and schedules for basic designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in discipline. e)Provides on-the-job training for personnel within assigned lead responsibility. 2.Knowledge of Revit is highly desirable 3. Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings using Microstation / Auto CAD / Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD model of high complexity with minimal guidance from others. 4. Proficient in S3D modelling – Equipment modelling, Raceway, Grounding and lighting. Works independently in the preparation of 3-D CAD design model from which detailed models and/or . construction drawings are completed.Assists in constructing detailed models and participates in client model reviews. 5.Is responsible for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline. 6.Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned. 7.Answers questions from client or construction group on design for assigned responsibility. 8.Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls. 9.Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements. 10. JOB KNOWLEDGE Min. 10 to 15 Years of experience, Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using Revit / S3D / Micro station, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline. Knowledge of Revit will be an added advantage. Capable of hand holding the team as Revit/S3D super user or specialist. Able to solves issues related to S3D for users. Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups. Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities. Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline. Thorough Knowledge and understanding of Raceway, lighting, grounding design and modelling, cable sizing. General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort. Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR. Skill in leading the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort. Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings. Able to work in a team and cross functional environment. Quality control for completeness and adherence to standards Takes ownership of the role and responsibilities is well organized, self-motivated, and able to learn independently. Summary: Within the discipline plans and executes designs from basic data supplied.Reviews drawings and/or constructs detailed scale models showing complete engineered systems, structures and plant arrangements.
