About the position

The BlackBerry Bengaluru R&D team is looking for self-motivated and experienced manager to lead a team of engineers to develop the components of storage threat detection and remediation component within our Cloud Infra Security product line. This position will be responsible for designing and developing out-of-the-box next-gen products with high quality and usability. The individual at this position comes with mindset of continuous learning and mentoring the other team members within the high-performance engineering team.

What you will do:

• Participate in product discussions with product management, user experience, architects, technical leaders, and cross-functional engineering stakeholders
• Build a team to develop anticipated future requirements & product functionalities delivered from cloud
• Set and communicate team objectives, priorities, define workflows and processes based on the product vision and strategy in a fast-paced environment
• Align strategy, processes, and decision-making to deliver quality and timely products and/or programs that meet customer requirements
• Adapt team plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
• Meet regularly with team members to discuss performance and development needs and provide feedback and coaching
• Biased to action and willing to explore the innovative ideas of self and team.
• Drive continuous improvement keeping your team agile and creative
• Share engineering best practices from past experiences and continuously improve the engineering efficiencies of the team
• Take accountability for the quality, total cost of ownership, maintainability and security of the component developed
• Keep yourself aware with latest trend and in technologies to build next gen security products.

Who we are looking for:

• 10 to 15 years of industry experience in product-based companies in software development roles developing functionality delivered from cloud
• 6+ years of experience designing and delivering new feature/function in an independent manner.
• 2+ years of experience in techno-manager roles managing small teams in design and development of applications
• 4+ years of expertise in programming languages using Python, NodeJS, PHP, Java, Web Service APIs, Linux systems, and Database systems
• Experienced with relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch
• Familiar with front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
• Experienced in building applications using various internal, 3rd party and open source packages, building microservices.
• Good understanding of security compliance and crypto libraries like OpenSSL
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices in the areas of development, coding standards, code review tools, source control management, build process, CI/CD pipelines and automation
• Experienced in developing new components in a scrum/agile environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with peers
• Strong academic record with a Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Software Engineering from a reputed university
