Position Overview

The Boeing Company is currently looking for an Lead Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer to join the Mechanical & Structures Engineering Team located at Bangalore, India. The specific job level is 4, which includes candidate with 13+ years of experience depending on the educational qualification.

Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

This position is a lead role to Design and Development of Mechanical and Structural components, & System perform, requirement validation, verification, Development assurance, create qualification test planning & reporting and support initiatives of Boeing India organization related to engineering excellence, employee development, customer engagement etc.
The selected candidate will Lead and provide technical quality review of the development and documentation of Mechanical, Structural & fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design.
The selected candidate will Lead activities to validate and verify systems requirements.
The selected candidate will Lead the development, maintenance or modification of system components’ designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation.
Prioritizes, delegates and tracks performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.
Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
Works under minimal direction.
This role requires technical leadership skills to Train and coach others, guide, mentor and provide direction to technical decision making in system and product design and development process.
Responsibility includes creation of planning, scheduling, peer reviewing and lead the team to meet the on-time delivery and first-time quality.
This position will be responsible for coordinating and presenting regularly with team members in Boeing organizations and shall provide periodic update on project progress, quality metrics, project summaries, and other related documents.
This position will be located in Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

Bachelors in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering with 13 to 16 Years of relevant Work experience or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering with 12 – 15 Years of Work Experience
Expert level competency of design of Aircraft structures, Mechanical or Hydraulic components.
Experience of Spares engineering investigation and in-service issues.
Solid understanding of System Safety Analysis, assessment etc.,
Experience of performing Requirement Decomposition, Crafting Test plan & procedures and participation in Certification process.
Experience in Performing requirement validation, traceability analysis
Experience in Mechanical System Design & Analysis, structural design, DFX (X- Manufacturing, Assembly, Optimization etc.,) , Tier 1, 2 and 3 requirements, Certification process, Development and Verification of Aircraft systems towards certifications etc.,
Perform with positive attitude and highest ethics.
Must have experience working with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products and locations within Boeing and external partners.
Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside, across different cultures and time-zones.
Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals. Candidate must be fluent in English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
Candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to mentor and teach subordinates and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

Experience in aerospace material selection, drawing (Drawing based or MBD creation), processes (finishing and heat treatment) specifications, perform analyses like tolerance stack up, FRACAS, engineering or product quality investigation analyses.
Experience in aircraft systems (Mechanical, Structural, flight controls, Actuation etc.,).
Experience of independently developing designs using CAD Tools (CATIA, CREO Unigraphics /NX) for Modeling, Drafting & Model Based Definition is essential.
Experience of design and development as part of New Product development process, redesigns and Inservice design investigations.
Knowledge of stress analysis and Aerospace requirements at system and LRU level.
Thorough understanding of aircraft certification processes and lifecycle.
Experience in assigning GD&T and ability to understand the develop rationale for supplier designs and change proposals.
Able to generate cost-out ideas, value engineering proposals.
Experience in Model Based Engineering using tools like 3DX etc.,
Experience on use of PDM/PLM tools such as ENOVIA or Team Center.
Knowledge of Data analytics and awareness of programming languages like Python etc.,
Able to verify accuracy of technical and non-technical data. Gathers relevant data for root cause analysis and produces changes to resolve the discrepancies in design packages.
Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelors in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering with 13 to 16 Years of relevant Work experience or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering with 12 – 15 Years of Work Experience
