Job Title: Applications Solution Design & COTS Lead
Purpose of job:
To provide technical skills for solution service lifecycle in areas of technical analysis, development, testing, integration, packaging, IT operations and second line support delivering to allocated change requests or as part of support. Technology areas covered will be
Microsoft Windows Server and Windows operating systems
Desktop Operating Systems ( Win7/Win10)
Vbscripting and PowerShell
Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Management Server (SCCM) 2016 (deployment only)
Integration of third-party (Commercial off the Shelf) applications in standard desktop environment
Packaging Applications (e.g. using Windows Installer, Installsheild, ORCA, etc)
Industry standard procedures on application repackaging.
Documenting the packaged/tested applications.
Group policy/Active Directory
Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technology standards.
Participate in key process improvements for all application packaging throughout the organisation.
Ensure that their workforce are aware of the information security policies and comply with them
Ensures that the team complies to ISO 27001 and IGA related requirements
Send account opening requests effectively
Disable accounts immediately for leavers and Absconders /on long leaves
Document and monitor / review access levels of his/her team
Provide security awareness and education to team
Manage Records to ensure compliance to Freedom of information act
Ensure incidents of their respective functions are closed within SLAs
Experience areas:

Proven experience of Application Integration and Testing in a multilingual global environment, covering below Technology Specialisms:
Microsoft Windows Server and Windows operating systems

Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Act as technical expert and participate in or oversee a variety of analytical and technical assignments.
The role is broadly split between providing day to day operational ehancements for existing infrastructure services and project based work leading to enable integration and deployment of new infrastructure services and capability.
Leads in designing, specifying and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance
Understands and support to software architecture design and support level 3 integration team in developing/integration solutions.
Specifies and designs large or complex third party applications. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools, consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensures they are applied effectively. Reviews others’ systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of skills and capability, and integration of multiple systems and technology
Participate and contribute in key process improvements for all COTS applications related decisions throughout the organisation.
Ensure that British Council’s COTS and Integrated Application systems comply with established technology standrads, policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
Recommend and execute modifications to COTS and Integrated Application systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technology standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems, including enterprise application servers.
