Job Title: Manager PMO
Purpose of job:
Accountable and responsible for specific aspects of the portfolio management within the Global Information Services, the Change Delivery unit (global IT service in PM area). Reporting to the Head of GIS Portfolio and PMO. Role to cover multiple P3O functions, starting from portfolio management through centre of excellence services to support in programme and project delivery:
Portfolio Management – monitor GIS Portfolio and develop regular reports to highlight performance. Ensure prioritisation, capacity, and constraints control. Ensure alignment with financial planning processes.
Centre of Excellence and Assurance – develop and manage PMO processes and templates, manage stage gate and assurance reviews
Programme and Project delivery control – Collects and maintains data in a consistent format to meet and assure programme governance standards and reporting to senior management. Provides professional advice to support the successful programme delivery of complex programmes with a global reach that impact on significant parts of the business. Supporting the PM and highlighting any risks to successful delivery.
Role context
Global Information Services (GIS) in the British Council is to partner with the business in order to make effective use of information across the organisation. GIS has accountability for enabling the full life cycle of information services for the whole of the business.
PMO manager role is located within the GIS Change Delivery team and reports to Head of Portfolio and PMO, as member of PMO team.
PMO team is responsible for project portfolio control as well as continuous development of P3 practices, methodologies, and tools across GIS Change Delivery unit (project management unit).

Main opportunities/challenges for this role
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
The PMO Manager, as member of PMO team is accountable for effective execution of service in following areas:
Demand management, supporting definition of projects and programmes
Prioritisation of requests, considering multiple types of factors such as organisational strategy, governance, commercial and other factors/constraints
Progress tracking including reporting to senior management, planned, actual and forecasted cost tracking and alignment with internal financial services standards (SAP use). Develop and maintain the GIS programme repository as a “single source of the truth” and ensure that it is regularly updated by the responsible persons
Management of the Project Portfolio management tool (Verto PPM). Including user training, administration, and tool enhancement
Tracking of project-generated outcomes and benefits
Participation in definition, design, and implementation of standards for GIS Projects and Programmes as part of ongoing development of capability
Ensuring collection and utilisation of lessons learned and identified good practices across Global Information Services area
Ensuring alignment of applied practices and standards with external business units, including transition management, global portfolio office (non-IT global programs), global IT service delivery and more
Qualifications
Degree level qualification or equivalent
Role specific knowledge and experience
Building relationship with the business users and becoming a trusted advisor

Proactively look across projects risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (registers) for common RAID items, to be tackled portfolio wide
