Job Title: System Accountant
Purpose of job:
The role purpose is to assist Group Reporting Manager in maintaining books of accounts British Council on ERP SAP System. The role will be responsible for closing the books on ERP as per month end and year end calendar to enable Senior Manager Financial Accounting & System Accountant to provide assurance to Financial Controllers on completion and accuracy of the accounts for financial and management reporting.
The role holder would be responsible for managing the interfaces from various systems to SAP FICO, support and maintenance of SAP finance systems and systems integrity in line with SAP best practices and the business requirements. The person will be leading on continuous improvement in SAP processes and providing insights which impacts business decision.
In the role, System Accountant will be exploring and leveraging the capabilities of ERP system for completion of Financial accounting activities.
Role context
The role holder will directly report to Sr, Manager System Accountant and is responsible for managing SAP finance systems for closing the books and systems integrity in line with SAP best practices and the business Requirements and to ensure organisation segregation of duties is maintained.
Main opportunities/challenges for this role
Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Managing – FICO model of ERP-SAP Overall ownership of FI CO model of ERP for maintenance of books of accounts of the organisation and meeting compliances to both internal and external standards for maintaining integrity of the financial books of accounts.
Month end
Responsible for executing month end /year end activities, closing books & managing global FI settings on SAP.
Month end processes including opening/closing periods, system processes, reconciliation keys, depreciation runs & revaluation run
Reconciliations between systems/modules
SAP Interface Activities
Subject matter expert (SME) with regards to SAP access and authorisation within the finance team
Responsible for interfaces from various systems to SAP FICO. Reconciliations between systems and modules.
Managing integrity of interfaces with other systems, linked with the SAP financial module.
Liaison with SAP technical team with respect to interfaces from various systems to SAP FICO
Automation – identify and implement
Brining automation of existing processes in SAP and act as a solutions architect for projects aimed at improving Finance business process.
Financial transaction in SAP FI
Responsible for performing accounting on SAP.
Responsible for reconciliation & finalisation of various accounts.
Responsible for collating and interpreting the financial data.
Responsible for handling end to end reporting requirement levering FI-CO tool.
Project Management
Responsible for managing the new transitional activities from technical/functional standpoint e.g. system design, UAT, reporting etc.
Subject matter expert (SME) with regards to SAP access and authorisation within the finance team.
Knowledge Documentation
Service delivery processes for managing system accounting are documented and reviewed regularly to ensure its appropriateness and are aligned to KM framework as per British Council standards.
Stakeholder Management
Effectively manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders for predictable service delivery.
Provides regular performance updates to appropriate stakeholders.
Qualifications
C.A or MBA Finance from a premier institute with FICO certifications
Role specific knowledge and experience
Experience in finance and SAP leading finance service organisation
