We need a faster, more flexible architecture to allow us to provide an outstanding customer experience. Being closer to the products we sell, the strategy for evolution of these products and the overall business strategy is critical, this role will be that link.
To do this, we need a much more flexible Architecture team that can work and align into other tribes that are working in an Agile way. The tribes will have their own scrum masters, this role will specifically drive the sprint planning and ways of working for the Architecture specific driven activities.
This role will work to bring other scrum masters demands with the overall Business Architecture Directors backlog to ensure we have a complete backlog of work, being maintained, and updated by the team as necessary.
The role will also be responsible for ensuring the backlog is ready for each quarterly planning session, ensuring capacity for the demand or flagging where priority calls need to be made in Business or Architecture.
What you’ll be doing

Runs the Scrum/Agile iterative development processes to lead on-time delivery of product backlog user stories.

Organises daily Scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings as a key part of the Agile team.

Leads the Scrum process across digital and project teams ensuring that goals, scope, and product domains are understood by everyone on the team.ÂÂ

Leads collaboration with Scrum masters to improve the application of Agile practices and cross-collaboration for delivery execution.

Safeguards project resources and direct corrective measures to ensure project success.

Identifies resource gaps and inform the programme and project manager to support and enable resource managers for outsourced services as needed.

Highlights impediments, risks or blockers on timely basis with the team. Tracks to closure using either Agile Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) or collaboration tools.

Drives communication between technology and BT Group through targeted communications and fostering open dialog with team members.

Contributes towards the continuous evaluation and updating of the backlog with new or modified user stories that are decomposed, estimated, prioritised, and assigned to future iterations.

Mentors other Scrum Master professionals, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.

Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Scrum processes.
Skills you will need
• Ability to take people on a journey in an inspirational way with simple clear communications.
• Use of Jira and other tools needed for Agile planning (Mural, MS Whiteboard etc)
• Ability and experience of driving Agile ways of working and execution at pace.
• Ability to define shorter-term/tactical work that can be carried out within strategic vision.
• Using outcome-based delivery and creative thinking to achieve results.
• Ability to guide Architects in how to use Agile tools and to embed ways of working into people’s roles.
• Excellent communication skills to bring multiple squads together – blending the work architects do in tribes with the work they do in Architecture in one seamless view of what is in the backlog and what is planned.
Experience required
• Total 12+yrs exp with mandatory 2+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master in any area, not just Architecture.
• Mandatory Experience of Agile planning, SAFE framework,
• Mandatory Hands-on experience of using Jira, building filters, dashboards, and cross board integration.
• Preferred experience of agile product ownership and technical depth particularly around service-based architecture.
