Key responsibilities

• Lead strategy for engagement with Platform users (mainly data scientists) to ensure they have what they need to productionise their DS/ML developments safely and quickly

• Lead and prioritise the ongoing operations of the Platform, managing demand and resource within budget, using technical expertise and setting technical standards

• Own responsibility for the user experience and lead advocacy for the platform to encourage widespread and sustained adoption across the business

• Lead a distributed team of engineers (machine learning and cloud) to prioritise and deploy their talents when and where needed to maximise the value gained from the Platform and ensure all data and AI artefacts are captured and accessible

• Represent Platform user views, requirements and pain points to other leads in the Platform team to ensure timely and effective response

• Challenge the team to identify and solve inefficiencies in the existing Platform provisioning and operation, and as it evolves

• Report on progress clearly and succinctly to a wide range of colleagues, in and outside the immediate team.

• Be a subject matter expert across BT for MLOps, with a responsibility for advising other teams to encourage the usage of the Platform.

• Contribute to the development of and ensure adherence to relevant frameworks and regulations to ensure safe development of AI applications.

• Support business case development, tendering, budgeting and forecasting processes when required.

Management, coaching and mentoring of DS Platform and engineering specialists

Skills Required

• 5-7 years+ leading initiatives in MLOps Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Vertex AI, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sagemaker or Microsoft Azure ML Studio.

• Prior experience building ML pipelines and productionising ML solutions.

• Experience of working directly with customers/stakeholders and, potentially, as part of an Agile squad.

• Ability to prioritise competing demands and backlogs based on commercial drivers.

• Team management and coaching, mentoring and career development experience.

• Demonstration of thought leadership through significant contributions to the wider Data Science community./ Data Science/software engineering.
