Job Profile Summary

JOB PURPOSE: To assist technical personnel in specific portions of the manufacturing operation.

JOB RELATED STATISTICS:

JOB DUTIES: Assignments may be specific in nature such as layout, work standards, etc. or may include processing, developing and procuring machines and equipment under the direction of staff personnel.

Assisting staff personnel in evaluation of new technology and recommending purchase of equipment is a major function of this assignment. Conducts studies to determine feasibility of machines and equipment needed to support modern manufacturing concepts and plans and presents recommendations to staff personnel for implementation.

Considers manufacturing philosophies such as just-in-time processing, manufacturing through-put, operator responsibilities/problems (ergonomics) and ensures machines and supporting equipment are the most efficient and cost effective to process the product. Discusses line arrangements with staff personnel to assure modern manufacturing concepts are being considered and arranges machines and equipment accordingly.

Specific assignments for this classification may include: releasing, layout work, setting work standards, determining material handling requirements, portable tooling needs, setting machine locations on the shop floor and other duties that are technical in nature but do not require a complete knowledge of the manufacturing process.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Requires previous manufacturing experience, general knowledge of process requirements and the ability to communicate with other technical personnel.
