Job Description

Cerner is elated to hire a System Engineer II. As a System Engineer II, you are responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly activities required to deliver multiple project tasks on-time while following all process and procedures, escalating issues as necessary, and creating/updating all necessary documentation. In addition, you are expected but not limited to do OS installs, upgrades, hardware moves and migrations, new server builds, providing advanced escalation support (including engaging vendor support), performance monitoring and tuning, host configuration of provisioned SAN storage and project management. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• At least 6 years of Total combined higher education and related work experience, including;
  • At least 5 years of Higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job
  • At least 1 year of System administration and/or system engineering work experience, including;
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering.

Preferred Qualification

• At least 3 Years UNIX Support experience including AIX and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of IBM AIX hardware and VMware technology.
• Red Hat or IBM AIX Certified
• Experience with SAN/Storage technology
• Multi-pathing knowledge in setting path for EMC and HP3par devices on AIX & Linux systems.
• Broad knowledge of IBM System hardware including latest P7 and P8 series hardware
• Programming skills in one or more of: Shell or Python.
