JOB DESCRIPTION

OpenSource Database Administrator / OpenSource Database Administrator SME

Experience:8- 15 y rs
Locations: Mumbai

Primary Skills:
Postgres SQL 10, 11, 13, 14.
MYSQL 5.5, 5.6, 5.7 ,8
Mongo DB 3, 4, 6

8+ years of experience as a OpenSource DBA or similar role

Position Responsibilities

Sr. Key Responsibilities (Please mention all the responsibilities expected from the incumbent to
perform)
1 Performs regular strategic analysis of the DB infrastructure and makes recommendations on
improvements and/or new systems required to meet business needs and future capacity.
2 Ability to provide 24×7 support
3 Manage the backup and restoration of systems
4 Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) preparation and testing
5 Available during P1/P2/P3 issues and guide the team ensuring timely support and usage of
proper escalation matrix
6 Produce basic project plans, root cause analysis documents, change/risk assessments, and
product management documentation
7 Monitoring database efficiency
8 Create and update documentation including SOP's and Work Instructions

Technical & Functional skills

A good knowledge of the physical database design
A good understanding of the underlying operating system
(Unix(RHEL))
CONFIGURATION, ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT OF
POSTGRESQL/MYSQL/MongoDB Databases
PERFORMANCE TUNING AND DB MAINTENANCE AT DATABASE LEVEL.
PERFORM DB UPGRADATION/ PATCHING.
Partitioning (Partition Tables and it’s type understanding Range, Hash
etc)
Indexing (Local and Global Index, its benefits and drawbacks)
Worked on Heavy databases 100+ TB
PERFORMING BACKUP AND RECOVERY, REPLICATION, DR-DRILL.
Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and
procedures
PERFORMING AND MANAGING LOGICAL AND PHYSICAL BACKUPS IN
POSTGRESQL AND MYSQL.
Different backup and recovery scenarios understanding
Restoration backup (point in time recovery, datafile restoration)
Implement and maintain Database security (create and maintain users
and roles, assign privileges)
Perform database tuning and performance monitoring – Plan
changing understanding, how to fix plan
Perform application tuning and performance monitoring
TROUBLESHOOTING ON A DAILY BASIS FOR PREVENTING ISSUES AND
PROVIDING CAPACITY PLANNING.
MONITORING THE PRODUCTION POSTGRESQL ALERT LOGS FOR
DATABASE ERRORS.
MONITOR THE CLIENT CONNECTIVITY USING PG_HBA.CONF FILES.
Work as part of a team and provide 24×7 support when required
(Weekend supports)
