Job Overview:
Responsible for supporting compliance relative to the US Army Kwajalein Atoll Performance Work Statements and contract deliverables for occupational health, industrial safety, industrial hygiene, and environment health management requirements including contractual commitments, laws, and regulations. Monitor regulatory standards for program update and application, where required (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, AR 385-10, others as applicable).
This position is unaccompanied; and a Bachelor’s Quarter (BQ) will be provided.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
Manage daily environmental, health and safety compliance activities and communicate needs with departmental managers and supervisors.
Provide strong “in the field” presence to promote a positive and safe work culture.
Lead and develop safety training programs.
Implement organizational plans and processes, enabling the effective management of risks to produce full compliance with regulatory agencies.
Create and maintain EHS data with real time management of aggregate EHS records and data for reporting at all levels.
Perform regular leading indicator assessments to proactively identify negative trends and recommend corrective action before a loss occurs.
Conduct physical and documented compliance audits of facilities and job sites focusing on the identification compliance issues, at-risk conditions and behaviors to ensure effectiveness and consistency.
Identify emerging EHS trends, and work with operations leadership to develop and prioritize long-term proactive strategies.
Investigate complex information to develop conclusions that require finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events.
Implement continuous improvement processes.
Define problems, compile facts and data, synthesize information, and develop compelling recommendations.
Participate in tactical planning of corporate-level safety initiatives, and drive consistency in those programs.
Ability to effectively manage while maintaining forward motion on key results and deliverables.
Review organizational work activities, processes, and recommend improved safe work practices.
Collaborate with departmental managers, supervisors and leads in the development and/or revisions of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Plan-of-the-Day.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:Mandatory:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) or related discipline, or in place of a degree ten (10) years of environmental, health, and safety experience.
Minimum five (5) years of environmental, health, and safety experience.
Detailed working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NRC, NFPA, and DoD or other similar government contracts regulations and requirements.
Travel by plane, helicopter and/or boat to conduct work activities on an outer island as may be required.
Ability to successfully pass any background checks, pre-employment physical requirements and drug testing required by the contract.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.
