Vice President Operations

Location: Bangalore
Reporting Relationship: Managing Director
Company Background: A leading manufacturer of Machine Tools
Responsibilities:
The position is a key strategic leadership role in driving the medium and long-term manufacturing and sourcing strategy of the company. The Vice President Operations will be responsible for the entire gamut of Production Planning, Manufacturing, Purchase, Quality Management, Engineering, Materials and Internal Logistics across company operations which would also cover the manufacturing facilities of the organization. Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overall customer satisfaction by building/enhancing a strong culture of quality and predictability in delivery
• Drive optimization across the entire manufacturing including establishing appropriate processes, systems and benchmarks to improve the efficiency of operations
• Incorporate manufacturing best practices to make the organization world class in terms of quality, productivity and efficiency. Responsible for creating cost effective, safe and environmentally compliant manufacturing infrastructure.
• Responsible to lead and drive change management strategy – people, business processes, systems, technology etc.
• Develop and deploy operational excellence guidelines in the business unit, support and review implementation of new processes, benchmarks, standards for operational excellence in order to ensure efficiency of organization through operational excellence
• Look at operational efficiencies from various stakeholder points of view: Customer-supplier-employees.

• Installing, maintaining and driving continuous improvement culture across the production-related environment, with major focus on KPI results
• Safety: The creation of a safe workplace for all production workers and the continuous development of safety policy with regards to production and associated manufacturing activities.
• Develop departmental goals and deliverables and align them with organization’s long-term strategy.

Candidate Profile:

• Engineer from a reputed institute with post- graduation qualification (preferred)
• 20+ years of experience in Manufacturing Operations function of a large/ medium sized Engineering organization; of which at least 8+ years as Head of a Manufacturing Unit or in a senior strategic management position in a medium/ large sized Company/ Plant (ideally multi locations).
• Expertise in Manufacturing and Machining of Components, Production Planning and Application Engineering.
• The incumbent should have worked with organizations manufacturing large products and having a high focus on Innovation
• Experience of having worked with organizations manufacturing products that are either made-to-Stock, Assembled to Order and Engineered to Order environment
• Expertise in latest manufacturing practices (eg. TOC, TPM, Lean etc.) with a strong orientation towards process improvement – preferably in mechanical engineering industry.
• Experience of having worked in Challenging Quality, design, Cost and Delivery environment
• Hands-on experience in dealing with complex supply chain systems.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional-team environment; effective communication
• Deep knowledge with respect to Automation, Robotics, Digital etc.
