Job Description
We are presently recruiting for an Associate in the Active Equities department in our Mumbai office. Reporting to Managing Director of the team, the Associate plays a role evaluating potential public and private (pre-IPO) security investment opportunities, conducting research, participating in due diligences, developing recommendations, participating in the communication of investments to investment committees, and monitoring and managing existing investments.
Role Specific Accountabilities:
Analyze and communicate Investment Opportunities
Research from a bottom-up perspective, analyze and evaluate public and private (pre-IPO) security investment opportunities across multiple industries including healthcare, consumer, technology services and insurance,
Build dynamic financial models to analyze expected returns of investment opportunities, and test assumptions and perform sensitivity analysis,
Perform due diligence on opportunities including financial, company and sector diligence, to determine investment merits and risks,
Outline the scope and work closely with external due diligence vendors,
Perform valuation analysis of companies’ securities, including DCF, precedent transactions and relative value analysis,
Meet with company management and intermediaries to review past performance, strategy, outlook, industry issues, and other relevant topics as required,
Under the supervision of a Managing Director, generate investment recommendations outlining potential investment opportunities and risks,
Present investment recommendations to internal industry-specific thought partners and management committee both in writing and orally.
Monitor Public and Private (Pre-IPO) Security Investments
Analyze and communicate company earnings and events that move listed share prices.
Monitor ongoing financial performance of portfolio assets, both public and private. Update financial models and other analysis tools to help with communicating rationale behind change in investment view.
Performing valuation reviews for portfolio assets and develop proactive investment monitoring frameworks for private and public equities.
Build and leverage relationships with industry participants and management teams.
Screen and discover new investment opportunities in pre-IPO and pubic equities space as required
Be a Contributing Team Player
Participate in and contribute to weekly departmental meetings and investment recommendation meetings.
Assist in the training and development of Fundamental Equities department colleagues and participate in recruiting activities.
Support other members on the team, as required;
Collaborate with other departments to produce impactful research work
Qualifications
2 – 4 years of relevant experience working in Asia and buy-side
Strong research, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills, including sensitivity analysis
Proven experience in conducting due diligence.
CFA, CPA or CA designation is considered an asset.
Passion for identifying excellent investment opportunities.
Ability to communicate structurally and effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
Flexibility, adaptability, initiative and good judgment.
Team player who enjoys a high-performance culture. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
Willingness to travel at short notice and spend extended periods of time on the road for due diligence.
Strong, proven demonstration of our guiding principles of integrity, partnership and high performance. Ability to thrive in multi-cultural teams is a further positive.
