We are working with a local municipality located in the Gippsland region, in eastern Victoria who is looking for a Governance professional to oversee council operations to ensure smooth & effective operations and ensure delivery of high quality services to the community.
Reporting to the Manager of Governance & leading a small team of Governance Officers this role sits as part of the Regional City Strategy & Transition team and primary objectives include:
Coordinate and ensure the effective and efficient delivery of governance services for the organisation.
Oversee Council Operations to ensure smooth and effective operation of Council meetings, and to provide efficient and effective outcomes to the organisation and community.
Coordinate Council Policy and their review and Organisational Framework and Operational Policies.
Provide effective personal leadership in the continuous improvement in best practice and customer service, by setting clear direction and objectives, by providing motivation towards performance standards and by developing staff confidence and skills.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A tertiary qualification relevant to law, business administration, or equivalent.
Several years of administration experience at a senior level.
Highly developed interpersonal, public relations, communications and organisational skills.
Experience in managing an audit committee and delegations.
Project management is desirable.
Experience in local government at a leadership level is desirable and/or experience in Council operations.
