Job Description
Materials Engineer
Experience – 3 to 5 years. in Automobile/ Aerospace, Polymers/ Composites/ Plastics/ Adhesive / Sealants/ Paints/ Coatings.
Education – B.E. / B.Tech. in Polymer / Chemical / Materials Science & Engineering/ Plastic Technology
- Roles and Responsibilities
Experience in material qualification, hazardous material analysis, and surface engineering.
Knowledge on the materials and their testing (non-metallics – plastic, rubber, coatings, adhesive sealants, etc.), special processes plating & anodizing, and environmental compliance standards (e.g., REACh & ROHS regulations).
Able to understand the customer requirements and support materials related qualification activities, involving testing, test data analysis, failure analysis, result compilation, and report preparation to comply with the customer requirements.
Well-versed in interpreting and writing technical documents such as, Test/plan matrix, Qualification Test plan/report, Development Test plan/report, Test procedure, and Material specification.
Able to analyze hazardous substances (REACh/ ROHS, etc.,) presence in materials/ components/ products, and Identify suitable alternate/ replacement for the hazardous substances.
Able to create and update material properties including mechanical, thermal, electrical, etc. to support engineering analysis of materials, and support design engineers in selecting & validating appropriate materials/processes.
Support in investigating materials/processes related production issues to identify root cause and countermeasures.
Familiarity with international industry standards, such as, AMS, MIL, ASTM, etc., related to materials, processes, and testing.
Interact with in house and outside test laboratories to co-ordinate for testing and reports.
Collaborate with the global team to communicate project status and challenges to project lead.
