Job Purpose

• Lead development & architectural efforts of the core Platform (Azure) of connected vehicles

– Evaluates trade-offs between different options in regards to scalability, performance, cost and availability – makes sure that the core services to our customers are always available

• Aligns and participate in global knowledge sharing within Daimler to leverage existing development work and contribute back with the expertise of internal developer teams
• Mentor junior technical developer to help them to get familiar with hyper scale IoT environments and its specific challenges

Job Responsibilities
Vehicle Integration Gateways: Leads the integration of the global Daimler Connected Vehicle Gateways, leads the active participation in the requirement definition within the global teams, Leads all the related testing activities with all respective stakeholders (e.g. On-board team, Application development, Business Development)
Core Platform Development & Operations: Lead the development of the core of Truckonnect. Development of large-scale IoT software platform which is responsible for to collect process and analyze all data coming from our vehicles to create value-added services for our customer. Working model is DevOps – it means that operation of these environment will be with the respective developer teams. Has to be able to manage on-site, offsite and external developer teams. Hands-on development is still required!
Platform Architecture: Constantly evaluating different architectural patterns in regards to different tradeoffs, like cost vs availability, performance and scalability, take resource restrictions into consideration for future development. Constantly has the drive to improve the overall platform, is always willing to adapt to the latest technology stack, and is able to ramp-up himself but also multiply his knowledge and expertise through the different developer teams.
Global Development: Key contact of DTA for the alignment to global connectivity development team in Daimler to create synergies, leverage global expertise and contribute back with expertise from DTA
Integration strategy: Validate and test different integration strategies for global Daimler Services, external service providers and startups. Make sure that data protection and privacy is always given with the different global and external data sharing implementations.

Qualifikationen

Experience and Skills

• Min. 5+ years of hands-on experience in the Azure (Iaas & Paas) and development of large scale distributed systems in IoT and/or Big Data
• Strong expertise writing CICD pipeline as a code, writing infra structure as a code scripts, testing of the platform, solving problems of the devops platform and supporting project s queries/requests.

– Strong background in System Design principles for distributed systems, familiar with CAP theorem, different kind of caching, cloud native & microservice design principles and familiar with both – infrastructure and application development

• Extremely familiar with distributed systems and databases and underlying principles (e.g. CAP, consistent hashing)
• High proficiency in one or more general purpose languages (e.g. Java, Golang, C# etc.),
• Strong expertise in Azure cloud computing, familiar with CI/CD toolchains (e.g. CircleCI, jenkins etc.)
• Strong knowledge about networking and infrastructure
• IoT systems development and maintenance of scalable Messaging and Streaming environments and extending the solution to create real time IoT data analytics driven applications.
• Exposure to micro services.
• Experience of DevOps concepts, tools and technology landscape.
• Experience with various tools of the trade including build tools (Maven, Gradle), version control (subversion, Git), automation servers (Jenkins, VSTS, Bamboo)

Education & Training

• Bachelor or Master degree in Software Engineering, ElectronicsElectrical Engineering or related field
