Duties And Responsibilities
Ensures that such plans and policies provide a safe and efficient transit system for District citizens and other users that meet and balance the needs of both public and private sectors. Manages multiple, concurrent projects. Oversees projects from inception to close-out, ensuring high quality results, designs, and reports. Coordinates with other Department personnel, (i.e., safety, operations, construction, asset management, and policy), other District, regional and federal agencies and permitting entities to ensure the successful development of multi-use trails and other bicycle and pedestrian facilities. Serves as the subject matter expert for planning, design, operations, and maintenance of multi-use trails. Serve as project manager for multi-use trail feasibility studies and conceptual plans. Reviews and comments on engineering plans and designs for capital improvement projects and private developments that interface with the existing and planned multi-use trail network.

Qualifications And Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study — accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position ncluding but are not limited to professional knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles and practices of transportation community and regional planning and coordination, and ability to develop plans and work schedules for assigned transportation projects. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
Master’s degree in urban planning, Public Policy, Transportation Planning, preferred.

Position Designation(s)
This position has been designated as an essential employee position under the provisions of the District Personnel Manual, Chapter 12. As such, your services may be required in emergency situations to perform crucial duties, i.e., snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter operations, food distribution, and communication. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when most employees are dismissed early.
The position has been deemed security-sensitive, pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations. Accordingly, the incumbent will be subject to pre-employment checks (criminal background checks, consumer credit check, traffic record checks, if applicable) as a condition of employment, and will be subject to periodic criminal background checks for the duration of your tenure.
