Eaton’s Research Labs (ERL) is a global research team and has an exciting and rewarding position for a Lead Engineer – Prognostics and Health Monitoring (PHM) seeking a challenging career in Intelligent Machines domain. This position enables the person hired to develop new technologies, improve existing products, propose new ideas and seek internal and external funding, lead discussions with customer technology leaders, present ideas and projects to Eaton business leaders and ERL leadership. A good blend of technical knowledge and business acumen is desired to be successful in this role. The selected candidate will be working with engineering teams located at EIIC Pune and collaborate with different teams and businesses at various locations across the globe.
We are looking for a Lead Engineer – Prognostics and Health Monitoring (PHM) to enhance our team in the Intelligent Machines research area focusing on developing PHM solutions for Industrial and Electrical sector products.
Lead technology development projects and guide teams (local and remote resources) and external technology resources (External labs/University researchers).
Develop innovative technology solutions and prototypes.
Identify and develop commercialization solutions with substantial growth potential and provide advisory services to business partners
Actively participate in strategic planning and development of Eaton product/service offerings and support New Product/Technology Introductions aligned with Eaton business needs.
Provide mentoring and help develop/train less experienced staff in a working environment.
Participate in brainstorming and design bursts contributing to the technology strategy.
Support building business unit relationships by presenting ideas and projects, contributing to the development of compelling value propositions for products/technology solutions and acquiring resources and funding needed to ensure success.
Develop yourself as a subject matter expert both internally and externally to Eaton; attend conferences, seminars and/or consortium meetings in relevant industry to network with technical peers and stay relevant in their fields.
The Lead Engineer is expected to serve as a technical and/or project lead on projects within the Energy Systems team. They are responsible for meeting the project schedule, scope, cost and technical targets for all efforts under their control.
Perform research in diagnostics/ health monitoring solutions by bringing in physics-of-failure understanding, reliability engineering methods, advance data analytics (AI/ML) and data acquisition & processing methods.
Drive multidisciplinary research projects in close collaboration with stakeholders including business units, COE’s, as well as university and industrial partners.
Record research findings and file patents, trade secrets and write technical reports.
Qualifications
Requirement:
Master’s Degree Or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/ or equivalent technical field from accredited institutions.
Master’s Degree (5-9 years) or Ph.D. (4-8 years) experience in Prognostics and Health monitoring or Condition monitoring of Mechanical, Hydraulics and Electrical systems.
Strong domain knowledge in Actuator systems, Motors and Electrical machines with good understanding of sensor systems.
Strong experience in simulation tools (Electromagnetic/Dynamics/system simulation) to evaluate performance and failure modes.
Should have understanding about hardware and software platforms for implementing PHM solutions
Should have understanding of Failure mode effect analysis, system modeling and algorithm development
Should have understanding of data acquisition and processing methods.
Knowledge of advance data analytics methods using AI/ML approach is desired.
Possess strong business acumen and the ability to understand and formulate compelling value propositions and to understand and drive through value and adoption chain.
Proven track record for IP generation and publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals is desired.
Ability to apply Design for Six Sigma methodologies including QFD, DoE and reliability engineering in the course of their work. Green belt certification in DFSS or DMAIC is highly desired.
Experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders and strong project management experience is required.
