Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) has an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Mission Systems Division (MSD) in the Aerospace Business. This position will be based in Pune, India.

• The primary responsibility of this role is to design and develop Aerospace MSD (Mission System Division) Products to meet product requirements including safety, reliability, and conformance to standards.

• The candidate in this position will be responsible to perform the design and development electrical motors conforming to required standards and to customer specific requirements for Aerospace or Space actuation systems and motion control applications within MSD group.

• In depth experience in the Mechanical design of Brushless DC motor design is a primary requirement. Knowledge of Brushed DC Motor and AC Induction motor design is highly desirable.

• The candidate will be required to design motors from requirements provided by the Mechanical group, Electronics group and customer specification. Also, he will support manufacturing functions during new production development and sustaining activities of existing products as subject matter expert.

• Typical products include electric motors for a variety of military aerospace and Space actuator system applications.

Qualifications:

Requirement

• B.E/B.Tech or ME/M.tech in Electrical /Electrical & Electronics Engineering

• Master’s degree – 4-6 years or Bachelor’s degree – 6 to 8 years experience in motor design & development in Aerospace industry

• Electrical motor design & development, qualification & certification testing, Hands on motor design knowledge for brushless DC, material selections and manufacturing processes for electrical machines.

• Drive for Results, Passionate, Collaborative, Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed, Analysis-First & Digital Mindset

• Understanding of aerospace standards & electrical aircraft systems is desirable.

• Good Knowledge of DO-160, MIL, IEC, SAE standards and Certification processes

• Experience with hardware / software integration at product and system level is desired

• Should be able to manage customer requirements, concept design/selection, detail design and analysis & design validation for motors – product testing and qualification to enable decision making while executing the engineering work in compliance with engineering practices for Aerospace.

• Utilizes DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for new product development &/or existing product improvements

• Utilizes understanding of manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs & acts as a technical resource for internal / external customers and resolves technical challenges

• Performs quality checks to ensure design meet Eaton and customer standards / requirements. Should have working experience with Aerospace Products & Standards

Skills:

• Hands on motor design knowledge for brushless DC is mandatory. Experience working with Switched Reluctance, brushed applications and AC induction motors is desired.

• Understanding of material selections and manufacturing processes in the area of electrical machines & wound components is essential

• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) GB certification is necessary for internal candidates.

• Ability to develop productive working relationships with functions and organizations outside of Engineering

• In depth understanding of Magnetic modeling tools (Lumped Parameter and Electromagnetic FE) for motor performance

• Good working experience on simulations using Saber, Matlab and Simulink

• Knowledge about Motor drive electronics and various drive topologies

• Desired to have simulation knowledge (e.g. Ansys RMxprt & Maxwell 2D & 3D) is needed to undertake verious motor design tasks. Also, general knowledge of 3D solid modeling (e.g. Pro-E), BLDC motor controller and typical aerospace feedback devices will be required to optimization assembly and system performance
