Garrett Advancing Motion Hiring for Manager- Design Engineering at Pune, Maharashtra Full Time

Position Summary:

• Responsible for design, Fit for Function, Design Quality, and Assembly of IC engines turbocharger and peripherals.
• Manage multiple projects; prioritize Design Work Requests in close coordination with AEMs and PMs. Work with AE leaders to define resource needs & leverage global DE resources on execution of urgent DWRs by coordinating with them.
• Support TS STRAP and AOP for DE. Achieve TS India KPIs – Win Rate, VE-HLRR, Award Vs Launch MM%, NPS, Flawless Launch
• Track & improve DE metrics and drive team competency development, productivity and efficiency. Responsible for Design Operation Excellence team & improve design methodologies.
• Drive differentiated packaging, housing designs – HUE.
• Support organization on VA/VE and standardization initiatives
• Drive use of analysis tools (FEA, CFD, Stack-up software, Kinematics, etc.). Provide technical guidance to DEs and CFT for issue resolution.
• Actively participate in defining, composing and approving Design Standard & other design related documents like EDI, DG, DTP, etc
• Drive DE team for usage of productivity & quality improvement tools like parametric design, CATIA, Onshapt, shape search, FEA, CFX, Drawing compare, Stack-up tools, etc.
• Establish CAD data exchange process on Ftp portals like MoveIT & ensure protection of IP in transfer of CAD data to customers/ suppliers.
• Communicate with Global engineering teams (DE, DSQ, FE, COEs, PL etc) on regular basis & align with global design processes
• Ensure design deliverables as per NPI process 3-6
• Work with team to drive EDI003-2 cross-functional review and approval of models and drawings prior to release of major design deliverables for the project
• Provide support to protoshop on initial hardware builds and resolve fit-up issues.
• Support internal manufacturing and quality team for inspection and assembly related queries.
• Collaborate with SB/suppliers during packaging phases to discuss manufacturability of new component designs. Support APQP open point closure with SB-NPI and SQD.
• Develop Master Designer role, conduct/ arrange trainings for DEs on new design tools & processes.
• Ensure application & use of DE documents/trainings under Design University by team
• Train team on simulation tools like GPS/GPS, AFC, EFD, 3D-Stack-up, Kinematics etc

Skills:

• Automotive domain knowledge & Working knowledge on IC engines
• Experience of handling OEM customers at a Managerial level
• Expertise in 3D Modeling & Drafting using Onshape, CATIA and Other CAD softwares like Pro-E,UG etc.
• Experience in managing PDM/Smarteam – PLM systems
• Expertise in GD&T with thorough knowledge on GD&T applications
• Knowledge on FEA, CFD & Simulation softwares
• QS 9000 & TS16949 systems
• Knowledge on design standards (ISO, DIN, ASME, SAE etc)
• Design and Launch experience of automotive components
• Good analytical and communication skills & thorough knowledge on MS-Office tools
• Leadership skills

Qualifications:
Bachelor or Master in Mechanical / Automobile / Aerospace Engineering with 8 to 10 years’ experience.
