POSITION SUMMARY:
The employee is responsible for testing the support applications design, product development, commercialization, and customer validation of power transmission products and systems and act as technical resource for FEAD parts, Tensioner, Belts (Micro V & Timing), idler & fan bracket and Bearing test teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned beyond the core functions listed below.
He will be responsible for:
Product / System DVP&R Execution- Responsible for creation, execution, analysis and reporting of development and validation test plans which provide repeatable, accurate, relevant, and timely test data and information. Assist with the development of test techniques, data acquisition, analyze results, write test reports complete with conclusions and recommendation to affected stakeholders and participate in design reviews.
Test equipment development- Responsible for new test equipment designs, methods, procedures, and modification of equipment and instrumentation with guidance as needed. Work with outside venders and internal engineering groups.
Hands on experience on automobile product testing, preparable in Belt drive system, Belt, Idler, Fan Bracket & auto tensioner, capable to setup an equipment and handle equipment software and hardware for functional/testing related operations
Capable to develop suitable test fixtures to perform test in line with global standard and requirement
Hand on experience in conducting testing /analysis of individual components such as springs, sheet metal components, aluminum die casting parts, injection molded parts, forged parts & bolts
Experience on handling of measuring equipment, like universal testing machine, height gauge and measuring equipment’s.
Experience on using thermo couple and controller for thermal mapping of the product when test is under progress.
Experience on eddy current dyno tester, operation, set up and data capturing
Experience on specialized equipment and its test standard, , like water pump tester, Pulley bearing tester, environment chamber, Water immersion test & motorized engine test rig
Experience on using quality tools for analysis of components and problem solving
Lab resource management- Responsible for the efficient usage of test resources, which could also include managing of lab personnel or contract test engineers.
Continuous improvement- Proactively Initiates and implements continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, decrease test time and increase lab and development cycle time with guidance as needed.
Corrective Action- Helps to identify and communicate testing non-conformances and recommend and implement corrective actions.
APQP-Advanced Product Quality Planning and Advanced Development – Participates in project team activities across multiple Gates positions and facilities to meet customer requirements and timing
Must be handle calibration of lab equipment and ensure periodical equipment maintenance and maintain history of equipment and adequate spares.
The incumbent will also need to ensure:

To maintain and improve the 5S standards in his area of work and also in work zones for which he is assigned ownership.
To ensure compliance of HSE standards as stated in the policy in his area of work. As a responsible employee of the organization, he has to bring to the attention of the safety committee any unsafe practice/working conditions in the facility, in external warehouses
Follow customer internal standards for Substance of Concern (SOC) or restricted and reportable materials (with support from SE)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent reports to Manager System Engineering and support to achieve the business objectives of the company.
Internally must work closely with Design Manager, coordinate with all related departments and people as demanded and needed by process scenario and work environment.
Must coordinate all activities with other team members and be aware at all times of project deadlines as scheduled in the GPMS project plan and organize individual work so that all technical objectives can be met.
Must coordinate with India and global Research and Development Centre’s where appropriate
Responsible for the form, fit and function of the products and all included product designs released to operations, suppliers and customers.
You will analyze and report on test results and conclusions to support product development, applications engineering, commercialization, sales, and customers with guidance
You will assist with initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects to improve quality and efficiency of testing processes procedures and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Requires a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 07 years’ experience test lab environment, test engineering, and auto component testing knowledge.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong knowledge of instrumentation, measuring systems, and data collection
Mechanical aptitude, solid understanding of dynamics, power transmission components and applications (metals, polymers, plastics, and composites)
Experience with DOE, failure mode testing and the development process
Microsoft Office Suite skills, including Microsoft Project
Solid interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills
Solid planning, organization, and data management skills
Familiarity with CAD design tools (SolidWorks) with a proficiency at reading and understanding basic mechanical drawings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must require lifting and/or move materials up to 10 pounds related to Lab tools and testing objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee might require working at extended hours to complete deadlines and projects, whenever required. Travel up to ~10% may be required to visit plant, testing locations and customer place.
