Job Description Summary
The Steam Turbine/Combined Cycle Performance Testing Engineer will be executing highly technical services on various steam turbine/combined cycle configurations including their applications like cogeneration and so on. These technical services include steam path audits for steam turbines and thermal performance tests of steam turbines and combined cycle power plants (CCPPs). The successful execution of these global services will require adherence to internal processes while being open to the challenges that may arise. Our engineers are accountable for the quality our customers feel when purchasing our services. Areas of customer quality include accurate/timely documentation, appropriate/timely installation of instrumentation, accurate collection of field data, accurate inspections and recommendations, various site activities, and communications.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Review commercial guarantees, test expectations/requirements, and develop performance test procedures
Prepare, plan, and execute thermal performance tests on steam turbines and combined cycle power plants
Setup data acquisition system, instruments installation and troubleshooting
Collaborate with plant operators, controls, engineering and maintenance team to optimize plant performance
Analyze data, calculate test results, diagnose, and develop corrective actions as needed
Prepare test reports for internal and external distribution
Provide service recommendations for the restoration of steam turbine/combined cycle components to optimal conditions
Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers regarding audit/testing activities, schedules, technical issues, and test results
Thermal audits of steam turbine rotating and stationary components
Understanding of ASME PTC codes (PTC 46, PTC 6, PTC 6S, PTC 19)
Support continued development and improvement of performance tools/processes
Identify and report in-field sales opportunities and communicate lessons learnt in a timely manner to various cross-functional dependent teams
Proactively lead/support new initiatives including developing and protecting the Intellectual Property of GEV to enable impactful energy transition
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of five years of steam turbine/combined cycle maintenance/testing/operations/design/thermal performance experience
Hands on experience in Microsoft Office Applications like MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
Excellent written and oral communication skills (English) to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
Desired Characteristics
Technical Expertise:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Thorough understanding of steam turbine/combined cycle thermodynamics, performance, and operations
Training or proficiency in steam turbine design and/or thermodynamics
Working knowledge/proficiency in the use of thermal modelling tools (GateCycle, Ebsilon, Thermoflow, and so on)
Familiarity with testing and measurement systems and with data interpretation
Experience in data acquisition systems and instrumentation
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
Experience working with large field data and information
Leadership:
Assesses & prioritizes problems in relation to organizational goals
Prior experience with program management
Highly energized self-starter who can work independently
Experience in handling tough customers discussion

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
The position requires minimum 50-60% travel in few days/week intervals to destinations around the world. This is an estimate only – travel requirements might vary with peak outage seasons seeing higher percentages.
