Responsibilities:-
•Provide first line technical support for root cause analysis of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging operational issues, packaging materials and rapid resolution.
•Lead and deliver packaging performance improvement projects through identification and application of specific knowledge/expertise per packaging material, conversion process, component and printing techniques to improve efficiencies, drive down cost, improve value of established products.
•Drive 100% packaging compliance with internal and external quality, regulatory, QMS and other compliance systems. Identify areas of non-compliance and develop and execute plans to fix it.
•Ensure accountability for the product pack throughout its lifecycle, influencing the packaging process and associated specifications including technical input to the lifecycle validation approach for the product pack.
•Assessment of operational feasibility of new/proposed primary, secondary, tertiary and ancillary packaging materials by taking various packaging trials on shop-floor in consultation with value stream.
•Lead global initiatives like pack rationalization, CRSF & portfolio optimization of all products at Nashik site
•Generation and management of all packaging material component specifications at Nashik site. Approval of all Nashik products artworks technically.
•Active identification of risk and to derive risk index value of new / proposed packs by conducting packaging material risk assessments, failure mode effective analysis and extractable and leachable risk assessments
•Actively contribute and collaborate with stakeholders to support definition, design and development of primary, secondary, tertiary packaging materials and distribution pack design
•Actively facilitate the improvement of pack and process capability and batch yields across the supply chain by reducing Cost of Goods (CoGs) and Cost of Waste (CoW) by leading PPV and non PPV projects
•Packaging technical support in technical trouble shootings, product transfers, packaging process validations, packaging material validations, supplier complaints, alternate source evaluation & evaluation of alternate pack
•Evaluation of site change control proposals, monitoring PR&D change controls, RCA’s, market complaints, supplier CAPA’s.
Educational Qualifications – • Bachelors/Masters in science / pharma, Institute of Packaging Diploma or equivalent
Years of Experience Minimum 10 Years
Type of Experience –
• Knowledge of regulatory environment, particularly in markets where product is commercialized.
•In depth knowledge and understanding of product dose forms and their manufacturing/Packaging processes.
•Demonstrated experience in the Pharmaceutical or FMCG industry in leading the Technical aspects of the Product Lifecycle including Technology Transfers, Technical Risk Assessments, QbD, validation and change control
Key Skills-
•Detailed knowledge of relevant dosage form including: unit operation understanding, functionality and criticality of formulation materials and their transformations (e.g. powder technology, colloid science, crystallization, isolation, drying and particle size reduction), plant equipment and analytical testing. Awareness of device/packaging processes.
•Understanding of Risk Assessments and FMEAs as per ICH guidelines.
•Capability to develop basic materials and formulation science input into RCAs (criticality and functionality of materials) and TRAs (particle science and formulation expertise).
•Knowledge of regulatory environment, particularly in markets where product is commercialized..
•Track record of improving products, processes and trouble-shooting, execution of technical activities including trials and validation activities
Any Other Specifications (Languages etc.) – Able to assess/interpret statistical data e.g. process capability, control charts
What are the risks to the business if this role is not performed?
This is single Pack technologist role at site. The current incumbent has moved into another role & hence this role is required to be filled out immediately. This role includes handling of core packaging activities for products at Nashik which is extremely critical for day to day operations at the site.There are critical activities planned for Derm operations like Alu-Lami, material source changes for security of supply/PPV, new pack changes, pack improvements as a part of market complaints, Eltroxin stability improvement programs, serilization project. There are various Harmony activities are lined up which involves artwork revision & updation of manufacturing & packaging documents (specifications & drawings). Hence this recruitment is crucial. We should also explore option of buy back notice period for identified candidate so that pack technologist is at site asap.
